I'm pretty sure she's a great person.

bumblebee 2,528
She is called the Queen of Pop, not the Queen of Music I think that this is something a lot of people misunderstand about her. She is much more a pop cultural phenomenon than a musical/vocal one. Obviously she does have good voice, outstanding to an extent that would allow her to rise to prominence, but she is not the most decent vocalist and composer in the game. However, she has somehow managed to sustain her pop music relevance throughout the major part of her career, and it was greatly thanks to her entertainment persona, to her music videos, interviews, her statements, etc. Ever since she got into that spotlight, she knew how to treat the attention that befell her; her dialogue with the audience was always according to her rules. She was constantly challenging, high-class provocative, inventive and intelligent. She knew how to handle the attention of the audience and how to manipulate it to her own career benefits. As for her music, she has a very diverse discography. However, in my personal opinion, her pre-1995 music is heavily contextualized by the sonic era of 80s and early 90s. She was musically like a child of her time before 1995. I personally believe that it was in 1996 with the release of Bedtime Stories when she peaked musically. It's crazy, cause it was like when she entered the second decade of her career she brought the most exciting things, Bedtime stories, Ray of Light, Music and Confessions on a Dance floor. ChvVolk 2,324
I absolutely hated her music, like her voice just came off so annoying. Then one day I heard Get Together and fell in love. As much as I don't like Madonna, her Confessions album was ahead of its time since it's what so many artist have been trying to do with dance music. It's almost Trance like, which I love. Oh god, I've said too much good things about her.
dlioncourt91 765
How can one call themselves a pop fan and not like one song of Madonna? There are some artists I am not fans of but they always have a couple of songs that are still great. Madonna's a very diverse artist. She doesn't stick to a particular sound for longer than a few years and the growth in her music changes from record to record, some for the best, some for the worst. Her unreleased material definitely has a lot of gems that somehow was nixed from her official records for some bizarre reason. There's so many songs to list but if you want to hear stuff she's known for her, listen to Celebration or Immaculate for her hits, then if you find yourself growing fond of her listen to album tracks and begin seeing performances. Sometimes her songs are reworked and elevated to their fullest potentials on her tours which has become one of the biggest mysteries each time she goes on tour. How will she re-work this song this time?

TheBatman 951
Maybe it's not for everyone, but she is the Queen of Pop. The first album Lucky Star, Borderline, and Burning Up (not to mention Holiday and Everybody) are classic bops, gotta watch the videos too :-) But definitely very 80's and "outdated" so maybe not your cup of tea. True Blue album: Open Your Heart, Papa Don't Preach. LAP: title track and Express Yourself, damn really you don't like either of those songs?! Erotica: so many great songs. Bedtime Stories, so many great songs, Ray of Light, album of life, Music, the tracks haven't held up quite as well over time. COADF: so much of it. Her recent albums may not be everyone's cup of tea, but start with those classics. At the end of the day, you'll like what you like and there's nothing wrong with that. She will remain Queen. Mary Jane Wayne 1,997
Getting into Madonna's discography was a life changing experience for me. Confessions On a Dance Floor/ Ray Of Light/ Like a Prayer/True Blue and Bedtime Stories are a gift from heave. I really love Music as well. Her debut is nice, Like a Virgin sounds outdated. American Life is really good, it's a pity that it has a horrible reputation. Hard Candy has some gems but it's overall a bit immature. However I really hate MDNA and Rebel Heart, especially MDNA-it's so bad. Overall 85% of her discography is EXCELLENT, at least to me. Tastes differ, she may not be your cup of tea but that doesn't mean that her music is bad
