I don't really understand German but I love this band called And One. They actually record music both in english and german and I like it because of the beats. It's just like when people from the US who don't speak spanish like a song that is in spanish because it's catchy or the hook. You don't really need to understand a song's meaning or lyrics to like it or enjoy it.

My first language is spanish and I learned english in school but also online so way before that I used to love Britney's music, Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Cher, Madonna, etc. and I really didn't understand what they were saying but the songs were good.

I like Spanish, French music and idk what they're saying for the most part, the music is just good

I think being a massive fan of someone of another language is interesting though, probably forces people to learn that language at least a little

I like music in spanish even though I dont know what they are saying 30% of the time. (Still learning) It still sounds cool though.

I love Spanish music, but I have no idea what they say  I've decided to learn Spanish this summer, I enjoy music more when I know the lyrics :D

Pacify Him

Well, a friend of mine who listens to jrock once said that even if she doesn't understand what they're saying, their music can touch their souls.

i think it's very important to know that because music isn't supposed to be about the charts.

I’m getting on your nerves

It must be very sad to only know music in one's native language. How limiting... I can say 100% that I only speak English nowadays because of music. Of course I had classes throughout the years but what motivated me was the music that I loved. And today it's what motivates me to learn French as well.

Also, music does not consist of only lyrics. There's melodies, instrumentals, vocals, etc.

Of course there's also something called Google translate where you can check a song's meaning in seconds.

This applies to any singer really but do you know what you're singing when you sing Gaga's songs?

I know what Gaga sings, bc I know translation :ladyhaha:
But when I listen her music I just don't think about lyrics
I listen only music and her voice

Did you think I'd show up in a limousine? No

Pretty much this.

English is not my first language so I was motivated to learn it thanks to my love for music. In fact, I love the lyrics of the songs more than the other parts so I look up the meaning of the words and phrases I don't understand and I make sure I remember what it means next time I see something similar. It's not that hard really.

Monsters never die.

I sometimes feel bad for people, when they don't know English - no matter what community it is. English is most peoples second language (and German, right?)

And I just wonder, whether it's because lack of interest in learning the language or just poor education. I've noticed, that it's often Spanish/Portugese people, who struggle with only knowing a few words, or nothing at all.

me from 2008-2011, but honestly still now, I don't pay much attention to some song lyrics tbh. It always have been about the overall of the song (if that makes sense) for me
