Last week there was another discussion on marriage equality in Austria, but unfortunately it was boycotted by the conservatives and right-wing parties (ÖVP amd FPÖ)

However, the Greens, NEOS, and the SPÖ said they would keep fighting for full equality until everybody in our country has the same rights.

And since friday, when it was announced that the ÖVP and FPÖ blocked marriage equality once again, the public has been fighting for out right harder than ever. People meet in front of the headquaters of the ÖVP and FPÖ and are having demonstrations there multiple times a week, people are recording videos demanding equality and share it social media and float Sebastian Kurz, boss of the conservatives with e-mails, tweets and facebook posts.

What amazes me the most is how many straight people have joined the fight for equality! The pressure on the parties that blocked marriage equality here is getting higher and higher every day and now also lots of celebrities have joined the fight for freedom. Let's hope it won't take too long anymore until there's equal rights for everyone in Austria

I always find it so weird when first world countries in Europe still don't have gay marriage legalized :duck:

Thread-worthy?

It's a hot topic here ever since Germany legalized gay marriage and there has been a lot going on. Mods can delete if they don't find any importance in it :bye:

Nah, it's an important topic worthy of discussing even if it is a minor event that brings about that discussion :poot:

Yes, since few days ago Germany legalized it, many countries are now discussing this topic and many of them are following Germany's steps, also LGBTQ+ community is more active WW with these type of things getting recognition and being an official thing. Why is it so bad to post threads like this? It's clearly better than "thoughts" about non sense or create a fake rumor thread about something people saw on Twitter posted by new account with 7 followers?

Gay marriage would be legal in most countries if not in all if not pro- christian parties or conservative people, but that comes from christianity as well, saying that these kind of thing would twist society, it's abomination, sin and etc.. people are too stubborn or too "stupid" to look it from science perspective so they go with religion, since it does not require any IQ to follow masses and listen and preach to orders dictated by more clever people. ;)

Austria is making baby-steps - nonetheless we're going forwards. I don't understand those close-minded politicians :awkney: Can't wait for them to lose this fight eventually :firega:
