n0ne 13,105
Writer and director of the 3 films mentioned, Neill Blomkamp has started his own production company, called Oats Studios. He plans to release "a series of experimental short films and other content entitled Oats Studios Volume 1" under his new studio. The studio has it's own website but will release everything for free on YouTube and Steam. The 2nd film in the series, entitled Firebase was released a couple of the days ago. It was good; the special effects were on point and the acting was great, but even the story was interesting, it seem unfinished and a little nonsensical. I prefer the 1st film. Here is the 1st film, a mini-segment, and some trailers. The films will weave between horror, thriller, sci-fi, and action. Sigourney Weaver stars in the 1st film and Dakota Fanning stars in an upcoming film. Spoiler Enjoy and tell me what you think. @ToughHooker, @Quasi, @QueenHunty, @blackstar, @E r o s, and @SychosSoChic thought I'd tag you because of your interest in the 1st film/thread. I've actually only seen District 9 But all 3 films have his take on sci-fi with action elements and they all his signature special effects design/style. District 9 was nominated for an oscar for best picture, along with film editing, special effects, and adapted screenplay. So I really recommend it. "My people… need to let our bitchiness out. FeedTax 280
For fans of video games: District 9 is the remnants of the cancelled film for Halo. For fans of Alien: Neil also has released conceptual art works for his take on the alien series which look amazing. Hopefully he will be given the green light to start production on the Alien franchise. overall: Neil is incredible and the films mentioned above are all worth watching.
