But Spanish is my families first language too :oprah:

if it's an issue for people I completely understand. My point is, that the option is out there to at least learn SOME of the language.

Just because there's a Spanish page on a website doesn't mean someone doesn't understand English...  Like really.... why is this such a problem with some people?

You mean 5%..... Do you even live here?

I live in Canada, the number is 15%. And our official sites still only give English+French.

I love how so many Americans preach the "ENGLISH ONLY" doctrine yet when they travel somewhere they EXPECT people to know English.

To be fair, if the world followed the 'English-only doctrine' that would be the case! ;)

Well, we don't. We only do English and français (and we have a lot of Asians, at 15%).

Also: we have Google Translate. It's 2017.

Such an agenda.

Actually now that I think of it, there's sometimes problems with lack of Mandarin interpreters for court cases @ZacharyMark

But that's about it.

Still backing away from my point, buddy. Good luck. Stay with the discussion and not try and make it seem like you know what's up.

We're talking about the USA.

5%

Wipe out the Asians.

Got it.

There isn't an official language, so yes, interpreters and second language learning is quite important actually.

This doesn't hurt you so why are you against it? Like why are people being so petty about this? It's literally the easiest thing that Trump can do and he and his team aren't doing it.

Yes, they can speak multiple languages.

I'm not against it for the reason that it is not hard to do. But you just know this is a topic was created to paint Trump in a racist and xenophobic light. I am not a Trump supporter, but if Democrats are going to try to do that, they should at least be reasonable about it so they don't lose credibility, which is dwindling fast btw

Nah, forget them. They're a small portion of the population.

I'm not saying it's a problem. It'll be in the White House's best interests to make their page universal to all. I personally would like to see different languages on the page, but with the way America has made itself, I'm sure the rest of the world was already expecting it to be as American as it can get.

We're talking about the USA.

And we're talking Spanish, not about Asian languages you brought up. And in my opinion there are not enough people requiring a special Spanish version to make this a big deal.

As I mentioned before, 96% of American residents speak English 'well' or 'very well', so this is just more opportunistic attacks on the Trump administration.

You'd have to be truly gullible and daft to think that... Dems are leading projection polls while Trump's approvals are still low. That's just a fact. And it's conservatives who care too much about what Dems think. The Trump admin and Republicans have proven to be racist and xenophobic: voter laws in NC, no Pride acknowledgement, Sessions, etc. And you wonder why people are so up in arms? Truthfully this hiccup in the website only backs up what conservatives want. And it's very clear. It's only until when they get angry when we see the truth.

Well, they shouldn't. It is financially beneficial for tourist destinations to know English so much of them learn, so maybe that's where the expectations come from. But actually, I don't think many Americans EXPECT anyone from other countries to know English. Most people know when you go to a country who's native language isn't English, most people won't speak English.

So why are we talking about this then? The fact is is that nothing is being done.

A lot are very entitled. Yes, it has to do with English being so universal, but the entitlement is there.

Yet here in the USA they want to limit other languages.
