The old Gaga

I understand, she had that "superstar" persona, she seemed fierce, strong and unstoppable and it was fun at the time but I'm glad she's evolved. Now she shows other things : humanity, emotion, she fights for many causes and she allows herself to be weak at times. Actually I think this started with the Marry the Night video : the first time she showed her vulnerable self. 2012 was a struggle : she still showed her superstar side, sometimes acting like a diva, like for Fame, but actually feeling very bad and depressive. The hip break was the beginning of the new herself and ARTPOP showed us that duality again. Since C2C she finally found peace, she doesn't need to be that super strong popstar anymore, she knows how to be happy.

People who haven't liked any of her albums since like 2011 STILL coming here 6 years later writing essays about how she was fake all along and betrayed them because she no longer wears heels to go to the supermarket :rip:

That is not what this thread is about. I really like ARTPOP and even Joanne. Also nobody is saying she betrayed us. :ladyhaha: And yes, she used to wear heels to go to the supermarket. :ladyhaha: But I'm not mad about that.

The problem here is you trying to argue that people change and blablabla, and this thread is probably going to get locked really soon, since this place has become a politically correct safe place for 13 year old "little monters" who can't accept different opinions.

Don't miss the old Gaga a single bit. I feel like with every album I matured with Gaga. When I was younger, I was drawn to her "enigmatic" presence and loved figuring tiny clues out and what not but I'm old and tired and just want a real connection to other human people that is not compromised by constant games of riddle-me-this-riddle-me-that.

It was fun while it lasted, but it went away at the right time for me personally. I prefer the human Gaga over the robot.

Oh my god THIS :tony:

Im not trying to argue anything. People do change and thats a fact, no one is the same as they were in 2008, yes not even gaga. It's not her job to hide behind her fake tan and wigs for your entertainment. She has a heart for all of us to see now

Stay mad

Excuse me sweaty, but who is saying that she didn't change? The whole point of the thread is that she changed, and that's okay. What I miss is her old style, yes, I do miss the old Gaga, thank you very much. "She has a heart", really gurl? Is that your best shot? Everybody has a heart. She had a heart back then.

I'm not mad, just nostalgic.

I understand what you're saying, & I kind of feel like she lost a bit of the passion that she used to have in her early years. I mean I understand why she lost a bit of it though, she's basically conquered the world at one point (2009/2010) so I can see why she would like relax a bit and not be too passionate about things.

But I just miss that drive & passion.

Uhm.. her voice has never been more passionate than it is now :reductive: and for me that makes up for it :)

Wonder what would Gaga say, if she saw this thread :toofunny: and it will be pretty messy

Part of me thinks that since her hip injury, it's just too hard for her to wear heels  like she used to. I mean yeah she can do it for brief periods but not like she used to

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

Exactly. Just because her aesthetic has changed, doesn't mean that she's changed so to speak. At her core, she's still the same person who loves her monsters to the moon and back. Remember this is the woman who said "I would die for my fans" at ArtRave Las Vegas as a response to Katy Perry saying that gaga is too devoted to her monsters. The "packaging" is just a little different now but the present inside is still the same ♥️

It's funny reading your name because somehow I feel the same way about Harry Potter. Like... I like Fantastic Beasts and I'm excited for the new movies, but it's not even close to the feeling I had with the Harry Potter movies and books. I wish JKR would write more books instead of movies/a play.

I think it has to do with growing up. I for instance only had that hype feeling with the Harry Potter series and the Lord Of The Rings movies  but not with Fantastic Beasts and The Hobbit movies (altho I really like the movies)

Gagz also literally addresses our clinging to TF/TFM/BTWga in Applause: I overheard your theory, nostalgia is for geeks :lolly:

no artist can maintain that level of mystery for long, everyone has the innate desire to build a closer connection to their fans and the world that is watching them

name one artist who maintained the same kind of enigma that Gaga did for as long as Gaga did? none. I applaud her!

also, it could just be that we, as superfans, see through to stefani because we have payed so close attention for so long. who knows what the general population thinks? it could still be 2010 for them.
