This clears up, my confusion about Evan's character. I was like how is he gonna be involved in politics looking like that, but since he's a protester it makes sense.

Is this the first season in which I will not be sexually attracted to an Evan Peters character?

I have like 0 hype for this season...

Where is the horror factor?

I feel like the horror factor will be seeing whats going on behind the scenes like maybe the corrupt politician is doing unimaginable things when no one sees, etc. Besides it's gonna be more than just one story line.

Asylum was the creepiest season despite the alien abduction storyline being somewhat boring.

This is a TV series, they're more emphatic on content/acting/plot instead of jumpscares or scariness, which I prefer.

If you want to be scared, you should watch horror movies instead.

But that's the problem with most horror shows, including AHS sometimes, they aren't really scary. They just become drama thrillers.

You can make something scary without jumpscares and without taking away from acting, plot, and content.

The Evil Dead TV series is scary/disturbing and humorous while having great acting and a very interesting mythology and storyline.

Scary doesn't get you an Emmy.

Good acting and writing and directing does. And this is what AHS has been serving.

This TV series also happens to be called American Horror Story, and it's famous for being scary, so no I don't need to feel bad for hoping the upcoming season is scary lol

No, AHS is famous for good acting, directing and plot. Neither of the seasons were really scary, what's so entertaining about AHS is to watch how things pan out in a horror context.

Well I would think a horror series strives to be scary. A good writer/director doesn't create to favor emmy voters; they should establish the story and performances based off what they want to create.

How would we know if scary doesn't win you an emmy, when hardly no tries to do it in the 1st place?

Scary does not equate to a change in quality. X-Files is considered an iconic show and 1 of the best TV shows. They were never scared to be scary and it turned out great for them. They won multiple emmys and been nominated countless times.

should probably add AHS to the title so people don't open the thread to spoilers they weren't expecting.

A lot of you are confusing the genre of horror with thriller:

- "Horror is a genre of fiction which is intended to, or has the capacity to frighten, scare, disgust, or startle their readers or viewers by inducing feelings of horror and terror."

- "Thriller is a broad genre of literature, film and television, having numerous subgenres. Thrillers are characterized anddefined by the moods they elicit, giving viewers heightened feelings of suspense, excitement, surprise, anticipation and anxiety."

AHS is absolutely horror and always has been. A horror doesn't always make you feel tense, wide eyed, on the edge of your seat, or give you jump scares. A thriller must contain those elements. It just has to be dark, and contain horrific themes.

I'll be myself until they fūcking close the coffin.

A horror series, to me, is a series only in the horror context, it doesn't have to scare the sh*t out of you. As long as it is a story in a horror context with good plot, acting, directing, then it will be considered a good TV series, at least by audience like me and by award panels.

I would just say we have different tastes.

Came here to say this!  That long hair looks great on him! My hippy-dippy, queer self is excited!

Though, I must admit, each season he is quite sexy [as are many of the ladies!]

I feel like he'd be such an asshole, not like the roanoke character but a passionate rude guy and I'm so here for it.
