That and the fact that Dems traditionally don't vote in non-generals are what hurt the Democratic Party. We aren't winning the House back, and it will be the fault of voters (and areas that have been gerrymandered to death). If you don't show up to vote, you get the politicians you deserve. The healthcare system is screwed, climate change is going backwards, government offices are empty, and we are moving backwards. Hope was lost when people threw a hissy fit and voted for third party idiots or stayed home. With a liberal Justice eyeing retirement and Trump filling all the courts with his appointees, we are already ****ed! If you voted for Hillary in the primaries you probably wouldn't understand why. people think that democratic = good guy and republican = bad guy. its not that black and white, at least for democrats. just look up what the democratic party was doing during the election. Pulling too far left, for groups that won't show up to vote, of don't have the power to change a vote...didn't work. They are going back to their roots. The current leaders were great ten years ago, but times have dramatically changed and DNC leadership should match that. We need someone to deliver a strong economic message focused on the environment with green energy jobs replacing the "coal country" jobs created through infrastructure stimulus. I am aware of the issue gerrymandering brings but it's not the only issue. Major rebranding needs to happen. Also SCOTUS is hearing a very consequential gerrymandering case next Fall. Justice Kennedy will be the swing vote and has indicated in past opinions that he is aware of the problem but has yet to see a case argued well enough in the law to rule against the redistricting in question. I would simply say the Democrats are differently bad. Moreover, to say that Democrats and Republicans are very different would be an erroneous miscalculation. While I agree with virtually nothing Bernie stands for economically, I at least see that he has some sort of standard (morally) that he adheres to. Clinton and Trump?..... The other major issue is that Dems don't show up to vote in midterms. I didn't even get into voter suppression and how certain states use it in certain areas to suppress the vote. Obama was his own brand, but it probably ended up hurting the overall brand. I can bet Democrats are going to go back to the branding that worked.
