well 1 million copies were given away for free and it is going to be the most streamed female album of all time...on top of that the album still sold 700K pure copies...mind you the Anti album is pretty expensive and has never been discounted. That sounds impressive to me. The idea that hit singles will guarantee album sales is a bit archaic in 2017. Joanne still did really good in the US and has helped her expand a whole new market (the adult contemporary audience). Rihanna's audience is way younger than Gaga's so of course the single:album success ratio would be a lot different.
