SNSD tried to cross over without a reason though. The label just said "Let's try it", released an English version of a mediocre song with awful lyrics and sent them to Letterman & Kelly Ripa to do promo.

There was like no signs whatsoever that anybody would actually be interested in SNSD abroad, of course they flopped. Same with the Wonder Girls. 2NE1 had crossover potential but their label wasted too much time, waited till everybody lost interest and then sent CL solo into the US with bad songs.

Why do you think BLACKPINK has a chance though? Youtube is getting bigger day by day that's the reason they broke all these youtube records.

If the only reason of them breaking those records was YouTube just getting bigger, Gaga wouldn't struggle to get two videos beyond 100m views this era

first of all, it was 308m views in 2 seconds because VEVO uploaded it a second earlier so it got more views there. second, as you said, TC is not from Joanne so yeah she is struggling to get two MV's above 100m this era

It happens to every (great) artist. Reached a certain level of success and a certain age, it's hard to keep the passion you once had.  I mean, in the past gaga served great music video and promoted the **** out of each of her single because she wanted to prove something. And now she has nothing to prove anymore (commercial wise at least).
