Jenina 15,051
I don't necessarily consider her the queen of country music because I don't listen to too much but I absolutely adore Patsy Cline. Poor thing had to die at such a young age she was so amazing cool

Savage 1,782
Queen of modern country? Shania Twain: a living icon. She is the original Taylor, but not a snake. And don't come for me, but Gaga is to pop what Shania is to country. She's just not as recognized for it. Gaga brought theater to pop and then she stripped the genre down; each time, her peers followed.

Has she openly supported LGBT rights or is it just a random thing twitter did, similar to Babadook being a gay icon?

Oh, I think Shania >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Taylor (imo she has very little vocal talent) Shania did indeed dominate country music from the mid 90s to the early 2000s along with Garth Brooks. She has supported gay rights absolutely and said she has worked with so many gay people throughout their career and they deserve to love and be happy too. HOTNebraskaGuy 19,547
Reminds me of last year, I was friends with this girl who LOVED country music, and the topic of the queen of county came up and I was like "duh it's Dolly Parton" (I was raised around Dolly, and she was really popular where I used to live) and she was like "UHM NO!" She told me it was Loretta Lynn. I felt super embarrassed though because like I'm not that knowledged about female country musicians so I though to myself "wow I just made myself look like an idiot, Dolly is probably nothing compared to Loretta". But of course it's just like pop music, everyone has their own opinions and they aren't wrong for being different! One, five, ten lay a million on me

I 100% agree. Still, Taylor is the one that people think of in 2017 when they hear Country Pop crossover (unfortunately.)

She was one of the first female country musicians to actually talk about birth control, domestic violence, etc. (and she faced serious backlash for doing so). If you're interested, there was a collaboration album between Dolly, Loretta, and Tammy Wynette released in the 90s. I'll link a video to the album's single below.
