Would Perfect Illusion have been a hit with Malibu level promo?

Miley had performed Malibu at the BMAs, The Voice, Today and Jimmy Fallon. If Gaga had released PI earlier and performed it at the VMAs and on Americas Got Talent first week and then performed it on Today and Jimmy Fallon, would Perfect Illusion have been a hit?

It would certainly in the beginning have some problems because it has so much energy and a different sound than everyone else.
