Why do people think Ed will win? Joanne literally has a better chance than divide imo

I think it'll go to either DAMN or Divide. Joanne doesn't have a big chance at winning, and she'll get backlash for winning over Kendrick.

It'll go to DAMN, Divide doesn't deserve it and it won't go to another white woman. DAMN has done really well and it'll help stop the political conversations the Grammys are scared of

People are still pressed over 1989 and 25 winning lol. They were both excellent pop albums, critics really liked them too.

Well in 2015 it went to Beck, and the more critically acclaimed album by a black artist lost, in 2016 it went to Taylor, and the more critically acclaimed album by a black artist lost, in 2017 it went to Adele and the same artist who lost in 2015 lost again.

I hope either A Crow Looked At Me by Mount Eerie or Pure Comedy by Father John Misty get nominations, both are amazing albums

Again like I said, Grammy voters don't look at which album has the highest sales or metacritic score and say "yep that one!", they vote based on opinions, which we all have.

If Kendrick doesn't win AOTY this time, the Grammys are officially cancelled. Same if Ed wins: Divide is probabily his worst album, and his music is not that great, unless you are, like, twelve.

Anyway, I wouldn't be so sure about Lorde getting nominated. Melodrama, although critically acclaimed, is headed to a commercial disappointment compared to Pure Heroine. So, I don't really know if she has this nomination in the basket. Same for Gaga: the SuperBowl did wonders but Joanne is almost forgotten among the GP and critics had very different views about it.

So, I guess we'll see...  :lana:

Don't you think maybe they are the same thing? Love and attention?

damn wins or else grammy's will be labeled racist for the rest of time. so even though the album is shite imo, it still wins.

I'm pretty sure Joanne won't be nominated for AOTY. Its not extremely acclaimed nor popular. A pop album nomination is likely tho, especially if Bruno and The Weeknd won't submit to pop. Now if ARTPOP wasn't ignored she'd have a higher chance of being nominated for AOTY, but Gaga is still in a phase of building herself up again.

I don't think Ed will win, cause it didnt receive enough acclaim and the album its momentum is dying out. For example with 1989 Taylor was able to keep releasing singles til close to the Grammy ceremony which helped it win. While with Red the start of the era was big but overall it lasted shorter and she eventually lost AOTY. For Q4 releases it's sometimes a bit harder at the Grammy's cause people tend to forget how big things felt when it just came out. So people will look more at the quality of the material and he doesn't win in that field.

I think Kendrick has a bigger chance because of the fact his career is getting better and bigger in all aspects. His album now is his most popular while also being acclaimed. He's consistently delevering and eventually they'll just have to award this and I think the whole world feels like this is the time.

Lorde will receive an AOTY nomination but she hasn't really reached the level of where Kendrick is rn.

If the academy ends up being racist again and it's not Kendrick, I feel like it will be some obscure rock or indie act. Not someone mainstream.

Grammys celebrate two things: commercial success and critical acclaim. And so Joanne not only will be nominated (it has more critical acclaim than Divide but also more commercial success than either Melodrama or Damn) it also stands a good chance at winning AOTY.

Million Reasons winning SOTY and best pop song is a given :usrs:
