From a pure dollar for dollar perspective, yes. In terms of the quality of health care (which one could measure with a monetary value), I'd argue no. For example, waiting months and months to be seen by a doctor has a value for those consuming the healthcare - of course this monetary value is dependent person to person. Why do many Canadians come to the United States when they need surgery done quickly? It's because they place a higher value on getting a necessary surgery done quickly. Having the government run healthcare completely erodes any type of incentive for healthcare to improve (no real competition). So my answer to your statement would be yes and no. Just to be clear, I am not trying to advocate for the failed Obamacare and the completely innane Healthcare Bill the Republicans are trying to pass. It's a cultural thing. If you are referring to the US and the American Revolution, there were multiple reasons why we "left Britain's ass". Taxation was indeed a large part of that decision, though.
