Is Lorde A Better Songwriter Than Gaga?

John Wayne

Featured Posts

I think Lorde's production is pretty tight, unlike Gaga who has  pretty much free reign over everything (which is why I feel her lyrics haven't been so strong as of late). Keep in mind Lorde is only two albums into her career while Gaga is at least five. I love Lorde's voice but I can see it become tiring in the future, and the teen metaphors/allegories won't work as well when she gets well into her 20s.

Well I agree but artists are people too... They grow, they change. The future will tell us.

I am just curious to see what everyone would say. Besides comparing Katy and Gaga's songwriting skills is more of a comparison, than Gaga's songwriting to Lordes. Sooo...:nails:

Comparing Gaga's songwriting to Katy's is like comparing a diamond ring to a ring pop :bye:

I love how when people don't wanna admit anything is better than Gaga, they say they can't compare.

Yes you can compare. They're two songwriters.

Lorde is a much better songwriter than Gaga. Period.

You can compare, but people aren't trying to avoid anything with saying that - that's a valid reasoning. Gaga's music is more pop oriented with all the blatant sexuality, and hook-y repetitiveness that comes with that territory of pop music. Someone in another thread tried to compare Dancin' in Circles - as song about masturbation and the day reaming of getting dicked down - as a comparison for a introspective song about actual heartbreak. This is like comparing Fiona Apple or Kate Bush to Madonna or Bonnie McKee - just completely different styles and goals here.

This argument could be made about almost any two artists

That means we can't compare any two people ever. While that would be a good thing, I don't see people doing that, so either we can accept all comparisons or none.
