StressedOut 653
I adore Lorde's lyrics. I do think Gaga writes killer hooks/choruses though, that's definitely her forte.
SpookyKid 15,153
I mean, 'Love it when you call me legs, in the morning buy me eggs' is the best line ever written Life has a hopeful undertone |-/
Drin Lon 7,875
Not when TFM and half of BTW exists/ Joanne has some solid songwriting too The mataphors used in Aura are everything! and the writing on ARTPOP (the song) is amazing too. DWUW, Dope, Gypsy, MJH also pretty good Paparazzi is the only one that stands out from TF though, Brown Eyes too (myabe?) Lorde is still amazing tho I love her Melodrama for AOTY but her writing can get a bit repetitive melody-wise after a bit.
Fiona Apple 13,006
I think that Gaga is creative but she is not even close to Lorde.

I don't think Gaga is that great of a songwriter if we focus solely on lyrics, but she is (or used to be) really extraordinary in terms of melodies. Lorde, much like many other better lyricists, couldn't even compare.
Illuminati 15,921
I think so, yes. It doesn't mean that Gaga isn't good at it.
Flooo 600
I really love both, but I think although Lorde probably has more songs with a deeper meaning, Gaga can write just as deep and I prefer her writing style melodically
Damon 10,904
I like Lorde's more Don't you come for me, no not today ... and now i just sit in silence.
Sneaky Oliver 22,062
I don't think so! Lorde is amazing but Gaga can write a song about everything, she knows how to play with the words and sound ironic or how to express joy or rage or sadness thru simple lyrics
Panchecco 17,598
they write different types of songs so I don't really know if whe should compare their writing skills I would say Lorde writes more refined lyrics but at the same time she wouldn't be able to write pop bangers with iconic hooks like Gaga does
