This makes me sad. Like at what point did people Turn against Katy like they did with Gaga?? Katy owned the pop music scene a few years ago

They've actually had strangely similar career trajectories.

Both peaked with their second albums (The Fame Monster and Teenage Dream), had massive opening singles for their 3rd album (Born This Way and Roar), struggled with second singles from the same album (Judas, Unconditionally), picked back up with big 3rd singles (The Edge of Glory, Dark Horse), and had kinda okay-floppy final singles.

Then their 4th albums both came out to lukewarm reception, media scrutiny, a lack of substantial hits and a fair amount of backlash.

It's honestly really odd.

What will happen to Katy tho, Gaga had tony and cheek to cheek plus all her live performances during 2015/2016 and AHS  to help her get the GP's attention and respect back. It's not like Katy can do any of that :duck:

Honestly, Gaga's very lucky. Pulling off an image overhaul and changing public perception isn't easy. She really, really had to work for it. Several huge performances dedicated to showcasing her huge talent, a jazz album with a legend, an entirely stripped back era... In the least asshole-ish way possible, I don't think Katy can course correct herself to the degree Gaga has. I kinda see her going the Xtina route, with Idol and all coming up.

funnily enough, I am only glad this is happening because Madonna fans will be terribly disappointed

Poor Katy. I feel bad for her. The GP just really isn't here for her this era. I gotta say, though, I haven't listened to the album in full, but most of what I have listened to is just bland and boring mid-tempo dullness. Some of the songs sound virtually indistinguishable from one another to me.

Katy's massive era was Teenage Dream. Prism could wish for Born This Way's success.

Read my post again lol. I said they both peaked with album #2 and their lead singles from album #3 were massive successes.

I'm not here to argue the success of Prism vs BTW, I couldn't care less lol :ladyhaha:

At the end of the day, she's still scoring a number one, which is what most people will remember. I doubt anyone other than die-hard fans know the sales of Like A Virgin or Bedtime Stories.

No one remembers chart positions...

It's so silly that people here think that

Her name is still known WW. :tony:

People still know her songs. :tony:

She's still getting paid more than any of us. :tony:

Not bothered. :tony:

Numbers are not good but almost no female artist can surpass 300k. Except Swift Adele and Beyonce so no one is shocked.
