It doesn't have black/brown/white, adding it would weaken it IMO, what would it be representing then? an abstract idea? Perhaps I'm wrong, but I have seen A LOT of trolling by the right/4chan that hits the general public, including hashtags on twitter. (#cutforbieber for example), so I would be careful. Also, all black people support LGBT? All black people are gay? Of course not. Unless all POC movements acknowledge LGBT and gives support to us, I don't see how it is fair to change our unique "symbol". All black people support LGBT? No, but am I going to not speak up about racial profiling and harsher sentences for black people for the same crimes as white people just because not all black people support LGBT rights? Of course I'm not, and THAT is compassionate intersectionality. Specifically, the other reason black and brown were being considered on the flag is to remind people that it WAS people of color who started the movement and this has been ERASED from our history. All black people are gay? Of course not, but again, doesn't change the point. Intersectionality is about supporting marginalized groups, even if you aren't a part of them. "Unless all POC movements acknowledge LGBT and gives support to us." Wow. So the argument is: "I won't support you until you support me." That isn't how intersectionality works, and it's also not productive. It's not about what you feel you're getting out of it or not, it's about doing the right thing. I never said I don't support them, I support BLM, but giving support and changing the flag is a complete different scale. Weaken a movement to strengthen another? I didn't say I think the flag needs to be changed, but you certainly weren't speaking like someone who was giving much weight to BLM or anything like it, I apologize if I misunderstood you. Your argument seemed to be that because not all black people support LGBT issues that the LGBT community didn't need to support black issues, and I disagree with that. You weren't talking about the flag, you were talking about the issues in general.

It was not my intention, I just think this petition servers to strenghten a movement and weaken another, I don't think that is fair.

Disagree, the only thing that weakens is to say we shouldn't work together. Not to get all Hillary, but movements truly are stronger together. That's intersectionality

Of course we should work together, but I don't see how changing our already stabilized symbol is benefic for us, black, LGBT or both. I don't think they need to add the rainbow flag in all POC/BLM protests, neither they should expect us to add skin color in the LGBT flag that includes all colors. (I say that because we have LGBT in all ethnicities, even if some have more privileges than others) Should we work on the erasure issues? absolutely, but I don't think that it is the way to do it. takemetovenus 4,826
It's literally so disrespectful to the trans women and people of color that put their lives on the line for y'all to sit your privileged asses here and question support for queer ppl of color lmao
lairofhk 936
I never liked the flag to begin with. I think this is dumb to be totally honest. Adding two new stripes of color to it isn't really going to address problems pertaining to lack of representation and racism in the LGBTQ community. I suppose it's a nice gesture, but it seems super surface-level to me.

Xoxo Adriana 15,040
They should place the brown stripe in between the red and orange stripes, and the black should go under the purple stripe. It would look way more like a rainbow tbh

Please just leave it as it is. red: light; orange: healing; yellow: sun; green: calmness; blue: art; lilac: the spirit; Why would you add race to the flag? This, I think the flag is already good enough like how it is. And the meaning behind the colors are beautiful in my opinion..

Well I'm Latino and I think that brown and black colors are ridiculous. And as a Latino living and raised in the U.S. having someone accuse me of reverse racism is also laughable. Your assumption that only white people would say, "why is there not white stripe added too," is a stereotype. The rainbow flag represents the pride of everyone it doesn't represent race in the least and the need an extra two or three colors to represent a specific race is absurd. Everyone is represented everyone is welcome everyone is included in those colors, because they represent our pride not the colors of our skin. The original designer of the "pride flag" gave a meaning to each color on the flag. The flag originally comprised eight stripes; Baker assigned specific meaning to each of the colors: Hot pinkSex RedLife OrangeHealing YellowSunlight GreenNature TurquoiseMagic/Art IndigoSerenity VioletSpirit Pink has since since been removed from the flag and turquise and indigo were replaced with blue, but as you can see the colors do not even stand for race.
