Panchecco 17,883
I think the beauty of the original flag is that there are no skin colors (or colors that represents skin colors), and those rainbow colors are already a symbol of diversity and inclusiveness on their own BUT since we are in 2017 and everything is falling apart, why not add 2 colors to help remind people that we should all respect and support EVERY LGBTQ+ member, no matter what their skin looks like? I do think it looks ugly but it's just a flag after all
dit 46,738
Interesting but I feel like the other colors are neutral. No one is purple, no one is yellow, no one is orange (apart for Trump lol) etc.. so idk why black and brown LGBTQ ppl could not be included within all those colors we already have? Adding separate colors just for them sort of separates them...I don't think it really "includes" them like the aim of this movement is claiming it will do. Hope I spoke respectfully and voiced my opinion in a proper manner.

It's just not realistic. Not all POC support the LGBTQ community and not all LGBTQ people feel like getting caught up in race debates. Both are perfectly fine we all have our own priorities and our own causes that we care about. No one is obligated to stand up for everyone else. It'd be nice if they did but if you're expecting it, you'll be disappointed often One more side note, I hate how every discussion on race becomes whites vs everyone else white people aren't the only ones capable of racism, they are capable of being victims of racism (just like anyone else), and nothing is as simple as some of you seem to think it is there isn't a fine and solid line in the sand here and nothing is black and white. It's all different shades of grey I already clarified this post. What I meant is that yes, we should support each other regardless, but it should not involve changing our already established symbols. I don't expect BLM or any black movements to bring the rainbow flag to their protests, neither they should expect us to change our flag, it makes no sense whatsoever, it's so over the top, feels so intrusive. Our cause is not about race, even if we do need to work on some racist behaviors. I think some people are doing more harm than good with all the SJW insanity. I hate this term but I'm starting to see some reason in it lately, like, wth... People don't like this intrusiveness. I was almost labeled as a racist in this thread because I didn't worded everything perfectly (english is not my first language), can't even speak my mind, then you imagine how the regular person feels about all that? The person that don't acess Tumblr and don't know all the terms, etc? Hard to blame then for not voting progressive, they think we all are this way. Sorry, I think i'm rambling at this point. Completely agree with your last paragraph.

Luxe Ford 3,481
It only makes sense. I mean smurfs are represented! But seriously, I get that people of color feel left out in the LGBTQ community, but adding colors to the rainbow flag isn't going to change anything. Plus it would look ugly! We allready got LGBTQIAPC. What happens in Luxe Ford stays in Luxe Ford
Red Velvet 10,988
The gay community's flag means one thing with each color: Red: strong Orange: Gentle Yellow: Happy Green: positive Blue: calm Purple: to be an influence I don't see how brown and black is gonna fit there but the rainbow is good on its own. I'm like some kind of supernova

I think more colors/shades would make the flag visually unappealing as well, but let's just say, "**** it," to however nice we want the flag to look aesthetically for a second, okay? What's always going to be more important is what the flag represents. Sure as is, the flag represents ALL people who are of the LGBT community, regardless of racial identity/ethnic backgrounds. That said, there are black individuals (and individuals of other minorities) who don't feel represented by it because of the racists within the community who mistreat them and make them feel like they don't belong. I think that, if this is something that would give them a greater sense of belonging or make them feel like the flag represents them (because as it stands, they obviously don't feel represented), let's ugly the flag up. In my opinion, their feelings are more important than how I feel about a flag's looks. As a white gay male, I don't know what it feels like to be a person of a racial minority within the community, but I'm sure it sucks. And if there are other little things that could be done to give other minorities a sense of belonging within the community as well, go for it. Because this really is such a little thing. Why do some of you speak as though this would negatively affect you? This would cause harm to no one and only do good for the mental well-being of others. **** it if it doesn't look like a rainbow anymore. I can't speak for all of you who are against this, but I would still feel just as much a part of the LGBT community, with or without two extra bars of color. @ItsTommyBitch @En_Sabah_Nur I am German and I really don't seem to understand what is going on in the LGBTQ+ community in the USA! Does the US-American LGBTQ+ community really not welcome POC or in particular black people? Is there really a bigger problem within the US-American LGBTQ+ community regarding racism/white supremacists? I always thought and hoped, especially the LGBTQ+ community would be the most liberal, open-minded and welcoming group of US-citizens? I am really confused... At its core, BLM is about a VERY REAL inequality that exists. It's about police brutality, it's about systemic poverty, it's about profiling, it's about the fact that black people are assaulted and killed for doing the same things white people are not assaulted and killed for, etc. Please don't suggest to people that they shouldn't protest against these very real things. You absolutely should protest against racism, but there are other options outside BLM. And ofc the entire movement isn't like the people Blaire talks about in the video, but when some of the leaders are racist themselves, the movement is questionable.
