It's almost as if there's some gigantic case for impeachment building right now for a certain someone who won on the basis of calling a ban on one certain religion There's nothing harder for people to do than admit they were fooled. Hihi 1 minute ago, littlepotter said: This site has been pretty anti-religious from day one. Why would we call it Islamophobia if someone was against Islam, but not call it Christianophobia if someone said Christians are a disgrace and the world would better be off without them? I'm not saying Islamophobia doesn't exist, but this particular instance is no more different than the rest of the opinions about religion on GGD. It's not really a mystery. A mostly gay community disliking something that inspired the VAST majority of homophobia Hell, even I used to be all "I HATE RELIGION!" before I realized that religion is just an idea that can be used to "rationalize" or "justify" a billion different things. Unfortunately, hate is one of them. Whimsical bitch

Yep, I totally understand why GGD is against religion in general and that wasn't my point, my point was that we can't be biased into accepting the same comments about one religion or the other just because one of them has been getting a lot of support from liberal media recenyly and it would be viewed as pro-Trump to say even one bad thing about it chaeri pls

They can stand in line and just be annoyed by someone looking different than them. It's interesting how you think the girls actually did something to deserve or expect that response, it's very common. Also the restaurant apologized and banned him for a reason. Because I'm not down with blaming the guy 100% without seeing the whole scenario. People sometimes react with harsh words and say things they know will get a reaction when provoked and I refuse to jump on any bandwagon that outright dismisses this guy as a xenophobe without even knowing who he is or the full details of this story. Were his words hurtful? Of course, but I want to know more before I get outraged or make any judgments. Videos that expose others like this almost always leave out the moment of provocation... it's fishy to me.

I'm not saying Islamophobia doesn't exist, but this particular instance is no more different than the rest of the opinions about religion on GGD. To be fair, I'm generally stand up for most people when their faith is being unfairly discriminated against on and off this site I've stood up for Christian and Jewish members on this site a few times during the "Gaga is Christian now!!1!!! Evil!!!111" threads so it's not exactly a bias. I just wish some people would open their minds and realize that because you identify with a religion or consider themselves apart of that culture, doesn't mean you always follow the formal traditions and/or interpret your faith like everyone else. I think faith in general is a very gray thing; there's no exact way to interpret it correctly so long as certain boundaries aren't pushed. and even when people identify with one mainstream faith, that doesn't necessarily mean they follow everything set out by doctrine. But I mean, it's to be expected in the gay community and on a Gaga fan site, but recently I've been with some of the things I've read one here. Also this kind of answers your thing as well @PartySick

I agree that I probably shouldn't have jumped the gun, but I'm not going to be naive. Usually people who over generalize individuals of one entire religion with views that have countlessly been proven to not always be the case, tend to lead to those kind of retorts (the threats, etc.) I apologize however.
