I'm not one to defend DeVos but this isn't what she said she said the education department will enforce federal laws and its not their job to step in when federal laws are murky, which is true, they're not supposed to step in where the law doesn't provision them to. LGBTQ students need help at other levels of the federal government.

This is true. However, it must be noted that during the heated exchange between Sen. Merkely and Sec. Devos, she repeatedly refused to answer "YES OR NO" if she would BAN discrimination against LGBTQ students, due to the murkiness of the federal law. She continued to give the same response, which in essense was a non response. She may as well have been silent.

An unclear statement of the law isn't a chance to discriminate and find loopholes to govern unjustly, it's a chance to step up and lead in the right direction. The former administration understood this as a whole for the most part, the current one is against it. This was a yes or no question of fair value and she failed to answer it.
