sipthistea 21,099
I don't get it. ARTPOP was one of the best pop records of 2013, yet the Grammys decided to completely ignore it. Even Do What U Want deserved a nod for Best Collaboration Thoughts?
Riley James Everett 27
I know the answer! it would be a lot to type. It goes beyond just the grammys

Monster34 974
Because ARTPOP was stuck in limbo. For a Pop record to win Grammys, it either needs to be super popular (a la Adele) or non-commercially artistic (a la Beck). ARTPOP was neither.

juju 18,907
ARTPOP was snubbed by everyone, the Grammys were just trying to be hip. ❤ x ❤
Biagio2103 6,140
There were many pop albums in 2013, and since Gaga had the weakest commercial success, the Academy made the obvious move. They had amazing albums like Ghost Stories (Coldplay), X (Ed Sheeran) and In the lonely Hour (Sam Smith), the other submissions were Bangerz (Miley), My Everything (Ariana), Prism (Katy) and ARTPOP. According to the critics (Metacritic), My Everything (64) is better than ARTPOP (61), Prism (61) and Bangerz (61). There was still one spot left, and the three reamining albums had the same critics, so they voted for the most successfull ones (Both Bangerz and Prism had two big hits, and both debuted with a higher amount of copies sold than ARTPOP, so they had the same amount of votes from the members). That year we also had so many strong collaborations, and since R. Kelly was involved in a controversy for sexual assault, the Academy prefered not to nominate Do What U Want. Besides, Gypsy and Dope were not that strong either to be considered. And Applause was out of the deadline (they didn't nominate it a year before because it wasn't that big, unlike Roar). I'm only good at being bad

gagzus 15,831
it's because the grammy's has become a popularity contest in the last 10 years. just looks at the last few AOTY winners when there we multiple albums better than those in that year. My theory is it was snubbed because of the hate she experienced, for example it was 100% the best EDM album and should've been nominated for and won in the BE/DA category
ArtGagaPop 61,940
didn't care then and didn't care now. ARTPOP was a good album but not really worth of grammys. Now on the other hand, if MR doesn't win atleast 1 grammys 2018, then....
