A Georgia sheriff ordered ‘hands-on, body searches’ for every student at a public high school. Now they’re suing.

- A GA sheriff suspected a few kids had drugs. So he ordered physical searches of all 900 kids at a public high school

- The deputies paraded the students in each classroom out to the hall, made them face the wall, spread eagle

- The students allege the deputies stuck their hands down their pants, up their bras, exposed them to their classmates

"The case is an extreme example of how the school system can become a battleground in the nation's war on drugs. Law enforcement officials and school administrators have occasionally brought zero-tolerance, tough-on-crime policies into the nation's classrooms, often with counterproductive results.

Meanwhile, teen drug and alcohol use is approaching historic lows. Experts cite a variety of reasons why this may be the case. Lower rates of teen tobacco use may mean that fewer students go on to try harder substances. And the rise of social media means more teens are spending time with their peers online, rather than in the real world where it may be easier to obtain drugs."

This is disgusting. I hope they lose their job, and the school provides counseling for the entire school.

If I had kids, I'd pity the bastard who had the nerve to put their hands on them like that. Searching a locker is one thing; that's school property. A child's body is not. This is appalling!

It legal to search a minor, maybe pat you down, but this sounds more like a strip search which is not legal especially if they are minors and in a public area
