Anyway, I've heard ignorants call us arabs "Sand-Nword" or east asians "Rice-Nword", so maybe it's become a word that refers to slaves, even though the word derives from the spanish word for black so there really is no rational reasoning for a white guy saying it about himself.

There' s a problem in america with black people. First, they got stolen from their homes and forced into slavery. After, the americans decided to have sagragation (a system that keeps different groups separate from each other, either through physical dividers or using social pressures and laws.  

In the 60-70's they got BEATEN UP and SPIT ON and called the n word.

Nowdays in 2017, there are still millions of racist people who use the N word in order to verbally attack black people, in the streets, school, work, bank and EVERYWHERE.

Not to mention how many black people were shot unfairly in the last couple of years ( ex: 13 year old wearing a hoodie or the other one that had a toy gun). 

So even if you dont find it offensive bc ur not racist.. Racism still exists in america, many people use that word in an offensive way, and the black people still UP TO THIS VERY DAY, SUFFER FROM RACISM. 

So why continue use it? When it makes certain people offended? Why cant u just replace it with another word? IS IT THAT HARD TO JUST USE ANOTHER WORD? 

As long its used by other people to verbally attack someone... then it should be avoided. I really dont get it why u guys still dont understand such issue. And for you who are not americans and dont have much information.. it would be better to just ignore this kind of topics, rather than just coment for the sake of saying smth.

On a slightly different note, I'm frankly confused by why black people still call each other that word. No matter if it's intended as an insult or as a brotherly word, it's just really weird. I can't imagine arabs calling each other "terrorist" as a joke  or even gay people don't call each other f-word. How else do you expect the word to fade away from the public mind?

You'd have a heart attack if you came here and listened to how kids speak. They listen to hip hop, and hear the N word constantly. They didn't grow up in the US, they have no idea what that word means or its racial implications, and to them it's just an equivalent of a swear like "sh*t" or "f*ck" or literally any other swear word. They think it means bro, so there you have a bunch of 11 year old white kids calling each other N- in school with no one giving a fuck because adults don't speak English and don't know what that means  

I just think it can be done with.

As a black man in America and a Bill Maher fan, I was more disappointed than offended.  While some say "it's just a word" and "look how he used it", he could have easily said "n" or "slave".  I am still a fan, yet glad he apologized.  I've been called the n word, and fought over it.  It's still one of the most demeaning things one can say.  Not all black people use it, just like not a gay people use the f word.  I'm glad he apologized, and truly don't think he meant it to hurt, just a poor choice.

- Compared Zayn Malick to the Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

- Described dealing with Hamas as like “dealing with a crazy woman” whose wrists you can only hold onto for so long before you have to “slap her.” 

- Responded to accusations of domestic violence against reality star Tila Tequila by joking “The surprise is that someone hasn’t choked this bitch sooner.”

- Noted that digitally recording an interview with transgender icon Caitlyn Jenner was “ironic” because his TIVO “also cuts things off.” 

- AGREED with Milo Yiannopoulos when he said “I think women and girls should be protected from having men who are confused about their sexual identities from their bathrooms,” in discussion about transgender people having the right to exist in public space, and then proceeded describe the trans bathroom debate as “weirdos peeing.”

Like how Trump said he was "just joking" when he said President Barack Obama was "the literal founder of ISIS"? Or when he made any of those comments that degrade, rank and rate women based on their body parts?

Bill has made these outrageous comments in the past, it's his thing. He had a show called Politically Incorrect. He is a liberal but does not partake in the modern PC culture. 

I'm not defending his words, however I would not call for his firing over them. His history on being a voice for minorities etc. should not be thrown out the window. 

Many blacks online are even saying they are not offended.
