"She's an adult now?" Correct me if I'm wrong (highly possible), but wasn't Katy well into her 20's when she debuted?

ETA: Also, on what planet is 50% a C? In my graduate program, the minimum passing grade is a B, for which the numerical correlation is an 85+. If we receive an 84 or below in any one course in a single semester, we get kicked out. God...I'd love having the opportunity to learn only half the content and still pass :toofunny:

That picture is actually so much better as the album cover. I don't know what her team was thinking.

“Roulette” is a good song, and it was a good song the first 20 times Max Martin and Shellback slapped it together.

to me Witness has been shaping up to be katy's most exciting album yet lol hopefully it's not actually boring like the critic says

mm not here for the critic's praising of Beyonce's "activism" as the peak of pop stars speaking on issues lmao

I guess it's a fair critique overall, they touch on most topics I'm assuming. I agree the woke-pop was a flop, SS is a great song.

Gotcha, thanks for the info!

Growing up, I was a huge fan of Britney, so I can't help but put that into perspective. Like, by the age of 23, Britney had released 4 #1 albums (two of which were certified diamond), 1 greatest hits compilation album, had collaborated with Madonna and performed with MJ, was already on her second marriage, was taking an official break from her career and about to become a mother. Yet at that same age, Katy wasn't an adult yet? :awkney:

Not that Britney's career trajectory followed a sane/healthy path in the slightest, but it's just weird how the media treats pop stars with such different standards. Reminds me of how Gaga is always put under the microscope and scrutinized every single second during her performances, while some of her peers simply get a pass for just standing on stage and being less out-of-key than usual.

they gave ARTPOP D

therefor their criticism is invalid :trollga:

Is that...possible? I mean, if their scoring criteria renders a 50 as a C, how incredibly low would your numerical score have to be in order to receive a D? -10?

I'm just re-reminded of how particularly irritating, antagonistic and unfair the media was during the ARTPOP era. I don't personally think it's Gaga's best album, but it's still an excellent pop album; innovative, bold and simply far more interesting than the vast majority of pop records released that same year. And they gave it a D? At that point, it's just petty and spiteful. I mean, even if the production and lyrics had hypothetically been terrible (they weren't), her vocals alone would've raised the overall quality to a B, at a minimum.

in the UK we only need to get a 40% to pass (university not school)

It also got a 50 from CoS, but since then Metacritic has updated their review score correlations. A C is now a 50 while a D is 25

Take a moment to think of just flexibility, love, and trust~
