I respect Elton's work and I think he's a very talented artist but I honestly don't enjoy his voice on Gaga's music. They have performed Speechless and ARTPOP together and I just feel like he sounds out of place.

But his mere presence tells a lot about Gaga's calibre tho, I'm not complaining :emma:

True. However I'd really love a power ballad written by him and Gaga. He does not need to sing on the record just co write and co produce with her. (although I heard somewhere that he does not write his songs or produce them at all apparently? so maybe he could lend his team to her for one song.)

this, every time I heard Elton was collaborating with her I prayed for the songs to be shelved :emma:

the thought of we getting an album every year seems so uncanny now, like BTW in 2011 and then original AP 2012, wonder how things would have gone if the hip break didn't happen, it was a major breakpoint in Gaga's career

She would of probably released another pop record in 2014. But then again it means we would of probably never had C2C which was a great record for her image.

Probably overexposure or they wanted to focus on the Born This Way Ball for a little more. They were also working on ARTPOP right around the time BTW was released, DJ White Shadow says Gaga came to the studio the week of the release and she was like "The next one is called ARTPOP, lets go" so they started working on it. Fernando Garibay and Elton also wrote songs with her at the early stage but obviously didn't make the cut.

The hip injury, surgery and recovery obviously postponed a lot of the plans they originally had because the album was set for a spring 2013 release I think but at least it wasn't that long.

As far as I remember, she submitted a version of ARTPOP in late 2012 but we never heard what happened, it was probably too experimental at that time. Some of the last tracks to be recorded for the album are Venus, Do What U Want and maybe Mary Jane Holland, Dope so I'm glad they waited a bit. Sadly we didn't get to hear the ones on Act II.

1) Mary Jane Holland was August 2012, obviously.

2) DWUW was probably written around the time she was getting media backlash about her weight.

3) Dope & Venus are correct though.

The lead for ARTPOP was expected to drop in fall of 2012 but was pushed back for unknown reasons (probably not being commercial or trendy enough).

It's kind of assumed that interscope got very hands on with the album creation because whatever she submitted was probably too experimental.

Imagine if ARTPOP was like Dead Petz I'd LIIIIVEEEE for this.

I doubt it was originally like that. A lot of her early interviews and stuff made the album seem like it would've been almost like a retro-electronic dance album with like, breakdowns and stuff :laughga: Her descriptions were basically all over the place lol. I do think Interscope pushed for her to be more trendy and alter the songs to be closer to the EDM/pop craze that was popular in late 2012.

I doubt the breakdowns tbh,

I feel like Gaga made ARTPOP more personal and poetic because the record label got so involved with it. Kind of like she HAD to put her own mark on it to feel authentic and a Lady Gaga album.

Saying that wasn't there rumours that Gaga wrote Swine, one of the most personal songs on ARTPOP, as early as 2010? :lolly:

Yeah I actually heard about the Swine rumors before. ARTPOP's conception was really different than her other albums when looking back at it. It really does make one wonder how much was changed before the final product. From what she was saying initially, it sounded like it would've been a mix of fun catchy bops and experimental deep stuff which I honestly would've loved to hear

I wish we had Act 2 so badly! Or more leaks from ARTPOP because Brooklyn Nights is the shiiiiittttt!

But I was happy with the outcome of ARTPOP, and I wish it didn't 'flop' which I don't really believe it flopped that badly.

My bad, you're right about Mary Jane Holland. She obviously talked about that in 2012. I was just thinking about that Brooklyn Nights/Mary Jane Holland fight for that 12nd spot on the album but yes, that's actually one of the first ones to be included.

Xoxo Adriana

she got the tattoo and announced in Aug 2012 (as far as I know) and announced it was going to be released that year...hence why she went through all that messy 2012 promotion such as announcing the fibre optic wig (and barely used it:poot:) and also playing the lead in her car as fans came to meet her.

She then announced she would delay the album to spring 2013, I think her reason was because she felt it was unfinished and she wanted more time to work on it. Obviously as someone previously stated, her hip injury in early 2013 further delayed her "delayed" release date for spring 2013 to autumn:pray:

I recon it would have had heaps more potential if none of that stuff happened. I feel it was all the hype which lead to her injury which further lead to news of the album silent which people got less excited, and I some were expecting a lot more from all that waiting.

She wrote DWUW on her way to Milan, now let us hire the little detectives to figure out how many times Gaga visited Milan in 2012-2013
