Bradley 59,023 Posted June 2, 2017 Share Posted June 2, 2017 I mean Katy is one of the biggest pop stars in the world who has longevity, so if you're gonna recruit her to be on your show, you need to pay a lot of money. You can't possibly pay the same amount to Demi Lovato and Katy Perry because they are artists of different stature. If Gaga decided (hopefully not) to sign on the show, I'm sure she's gonna take up a whole lot of the judge's budget as well. These are international superstars we're talking about. On a side note, I'm not sure why anyone wants to be judged by Katy. GUYS, this is a singing competition and Katy Perry is never praised for her vocals. I just can't at American Idol and X Factor having judges like Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez or Katy Perry to adjudicate on their show. These are singers who can't sing live. Speaking of Nicki, she lip-synced every single part which is not rap at her BBMA performance. If you're not learning how to rap, there's no use in asking advice from Nicki. Also all Britney ever did on X Factor was 'Oh wow you're amazing.' 'Oh maybe you should try again next time.' 'I like your performance.' rumours 45,521 Posted June 2, 2017 Share Posted June 2, 2017 American Idol should realize that tons of people are going to tune in that first episode moreso to see if they enjoy the show than what Katy Perry is up to. A PANEL (not just one judge) that had good chemistry and makes the show enjoyable are key. Moreover, we've seen that simply dangling money out in front of these big stars doesn't always work (cough cough Britney, Mariah, etc.) if they don't fit with the show's dynamic. Hell, no one knew who Simon Cowell was till the first season aired, and he ended up being the favorite judge to many. With that said, I am gonna tune in, and I do hope that Katy Perry succeeds in this role. No shade.... but it is more likely for me to enjoy her in this role than to ever see her show live (I prefer singers who sound as good if not better live ).
