StrawberryBlond 14,898
If it really was a buzz single, she would have said it was when she released it. You'll notice that artists never announce that a single is a buzz single, it just magically becomes one after the song flops. It's so predictable. They must think we're fools. The only artist I can think of recently who made it clear that their new song was just a stand-alone track was Katy Perry when she released Rise. She said it was a song just for the Olympics and wasn't going to feature on her album. Which leads me to believe that unless an artist explicitly says so, every single they release is intended to be from an album unless it flops. Selena's team must be in panic mode now, wondering how they're going to salvage an album whose lead single has been so thoroughly rejected by the charts. She made a big mistake thinking that her name alone would be enough to ensure that a bizarre indie-sounding track would be a hit. I think she's starting to believe her own hype. ryhanna 3,507
"Buzz singles" are by far the most deceptive, greedy scapegoat of pop music. It's always released as a full single, and then when it bombs, oh? It was never truly a single, you say? It was just released to generate buzz and the REAL single is still coming, and the rest of the album sounds nothing like the single that was released to generate buzz? **** off with that ****. Especially if you're gonna pull a Rihanna and do it until something sticks. Kudos to artists who stick to their guns and don't completely backtrack on their singles existing just because they bombed. nick4bty 2,758
Lmao, as if. Saving face Ariana style I guess. At least Rihanna had enough integrity to stand by her three pre-ANTI singles at that moment. The music industry is such a mess nowadays. There's no hype for anyone anymore, that's why everyone is flopping left and right.
