Of course they are delaying the album... They don't want to put out an album and spend all this money promoting an album when they don't see it going anywhere.... No singles have had any traction, the backlash against her is significant. She can act like her label is the problem, but from their perspective they would be like "How are we supposed to sell an album with no hits attached to it?"

Mo Bounce had potential but was commercially lackluster, not even hitting the hot 100. Switch follows the same formula as Fancy and seems to be her best chance of a hit and that doesn't seem to be going anywhere just yet either...

It makes sense that they would want to see if Switch starts to climb and get picked up by radio. Then they have a legitimate hit they can sell an album on the back of - if not it's not worth losing more money on a project that clearly isn't gelling with the public. Why release an album and spend money promoting an album that's going to go nowhere?

... they could at least inform her better and let her into the light instead of not responding to her. She feels like her project (which was 'done' in the beginning of 2016 and then revamped and done again in November 2016) is being paid dust to. If I were Def Jam, I'd release it despite being a commercial flop. Let it be an artistic Album, which will maybe get some critical acclaim and then do a huge comeback with the next Album.

Glad I ripped them from Youtube while I had the chance, her label might just drop her ass and these songs will remain in limbo for all eternity :air:

They should update her more on dates but  Like I'm sure they did think June 30 and then her latest single hasn't gone anyway so they discussed delaying it internally.

Def Jam is a business, if they are investing money into a project they want to see a return. While it's nice to have critically acclaimed artists releasing artsy albums, that's not going to pay the bills. They would be taking a very significant risk with your plan that they probably don't think is worth it...

They would have to assume #1 that it would get critical acclaim (none of the singles released have been critically acclaimed - so there is no reason to assume that) and that #2 that she is capable of a huge comeback on the back of this critical acclaim (which seems very unlikely).

If you were in def jam you would have spent millions just breaking her into the industry, you would have spent a whole lot of money on this current campaign and you would likely have to spend millions again on her next project with not only absolutely no indication that it will pay off, but in fact a wealth of data that would suggest it wouldn't pay off.

There is money involved with releasing and promoting an album. They probably just don't think it's worth investing time and money into a project that isn't going anywhere. The label needs to think about their distribution deals, promotion and all sort of stuff - not even considering the costs of recording.

She might have a niche audience, but that audience probably isn't going to bring in enough for them to recoup the money they have already invested in this project. The reason they are not releasing the album is because it isn't financially advantageous for them too - it's really that simple. They don't see the value in investing more time and money into a project that's not going to bring in any money.

They have clearly tried - even after a failed change in direction with Team and Mo Bounce showed lackluster sales they shoved her on every T.V show and got her to release a 'safe' single like Switch that follows the formula of what has worked in the past. Even that doesn't seem to be sticking.

Ratings for X-Factor Australia tanked when she was a judge, her singles have failed to even break the Hot 100... Even from the outside things don't look great. I'm sure internally, they are crunching the numbers and they don't like what they are seeing.

I don't know why you had to quote me to say all of this lmao. You could've just replied to the topic. It's not that deep.

You asked why the label wouldn't just release the album before she loses even more fans, I explained explained why.

If you're not interested then whatever :smh: Just read it and move on. It's not that deep.

There's no way these 4 aren't album tracks. Especially Boom. Zedd hyped the **** out if just a few days ago. And after it listening to its too good to be an outtake. It would be stupid for all parties involved not to include that song on the album.

She leaked these 4 songs to hold fans over for a bit until she knows for sure the release date. I bet if they push back the album too late again or don't give a date soon enough, Iggy will leak the rest.

She was meant to have a collab with Zedd for the Baywatch soundtrack. Think we can assume that's Boom Boom. Soundtrack was released a few weeks ago and it didn't make the cut :/

She also said she scrapped the original songs (middle man, 7teen, Haze etc) on Twitter as it doesn't follow the style of the new DD. However she was contemplating Middle Man the other day. :/

I don't think she has any clue of the tracklist tbh. She's bored waiting and just keeps messing about with it.

Record labels all seem so messy lately. Seems like no one knows how to release an album and follow original plans.

For all we know, they told her her album wasn't good enough to release and she got mad. We DON'T KNOW the truth of the situation. Iggy could be telling the honest truth or she could be making it all up. We'll never know. What I do know is that I work in marketing and yes, I don't fully believe Iggy here. Of course the label doesn't want to release an already-expensive album of which every single has failed.
