I'm assuming that the label is just trying to gain the public's attention back a little bit, but why don't they just realize that Iggy is going to be a niche act for now and let her release the album before she loses even more fans?

Of course they are delaying the album... They don't want to put out an album and spend all this money promoting an album when they don't see it going anywhere.... No singles have had any traction, the backlash against her is significant. She can act like her label is the problem, but from their perspective they would be like "How are we supposed to sell an album with no hits attached to it?"

Mo Bounce had potential but was commercially lackluster, not even hitting the hot 100. Switch follows the same formula as Fancy and seems to be her best chance of a hit and that doesn't seem to be going anywhere just yet either...

It makes sense that they would want to see if Switch starts to climb and get picked up by radio. Then they have a legitimate hit they can sell an album on the back of - if not it's not worth losing more money on a project that clearly isn't gelling with the public. Why release an album and spend money promoting an album that's going to go nowhere?

Poor Iggy :( These are some really f*cking good songs too, I don't know why her label would be this sh*tty to her

Also perchedt for Boom Boom being a single with a cute glitchy video

These aren't bad, better than the first album!

Sad that the GP killed her career, but she really got big at the worst of times, what with race relations in America heating up after 2012 - of course it looked insensitive for this Aussie woman with a blackcent to suddenly blow up over night when we had more pressing matters to address, and she was awfully quiet about the culture that birthed hip hop when they were being gunned down at an alarming rate and she was profiting off said culture. So my opinions are mixed, I kind of don't want her to succeed but at the same time, I do enjoy some of her music and these new songs slap.

There is money involved with releasing and promoting an album. They probably just don't think it's worth investing time and money into a project that isn't going anywhere. The label needs to think about their distribution deals, promotion and all sort of stuff - not even considering the costs of recording.

She might have a niche audience, but that audience probably isn't going to bring in enough for them to recoup the money they have already invested in this project. The reason they are not releasing the album is because it isn't financially advantageous for them too - it's really that simple. They don't see the value in investing more time and money into a project that's not going to bring in any money.

They have clearly tried - even after a failed change in direction with Team and Mo Bounce showed lackluster sales they shoved her on every T.V show and got her to release a 'safe' single like Switch that follows the formula of what has worked in the past. Even that doesn't seem to be sticking.

Ratings for X-Factor Australia tanked when she was a judge, her singles have failed to even break the Hot 100... Even from the outside things don't look great. I'm sure internally, they are crunching the numbers and they don't like what they are seeing.

must be really frustrating to her, if she's all about the music she should go indie, I've been enjoying all her latest releases, Switch is a bop

Hey, I'm actually digging these songs. I know music is an industry, but it shouldn't be about the money. Iggy will never have a hit again, the GP has ****ed her over. Just let her release her stuff instead of leaving her hanging and making her reputation even worse, diminishing even more her chances at having a hit.

This is so sad that she has to resort to this. :(

GP really went in on her. I like what I hear so far.

Clever Username

With her album set to drop at the end of June, it seems like she is just trying to drum up some interest for that, right?

Or did it get delayed again? :lolly:

Damn she was so lucky in 2014 with Fancy, Black Widow, Problem and all of those other songs she released. It must suck that people are not interested in you anymore after a huge successful album cycle but they probably should've gotten better songwriters.

I haven't listened to any of her new music and I'm not a fan of her but it's a tough situation, the label would not be ignoring her if they saw her album had some potential. I mean, it's a business and it's a waste of time to sell something that is probably going to get ignored.

Anyway, I'm a little annoyed when artists do this and we're all thirsty for ARTPOP Act II. Gaga really should've done this right around her Creative Rebellion thing when she fired Troy, that'd have been sick.
