dit 46,482
Amazing things happened during the Joanne era like: Amazing Superbowl, Coachella (first female to headline since Bjork), #1 debut week, MR going top 5 on Hot 100 (her first top 10 since Applause in 2013), 3 MVs etc... Not so amazing things happened as well: No huge smash hit, radio hesitance to play her (highest radio peak was 73M for MR), only 2 singles for the era with one of them not being promoted so really only 1 REAL single cycle, lukewarm critic and fan response etc... Do you think this is exactly how Gaga wanted the era to be? Do you think she is satisfied?
artpopulace 1,657
I don't think things like these don't matter to Gaga anymore. She just wants to put out music and be an artist. So I think these stuff are more than enough for her. I guess. Of course headlining the Superbowl was a proud moment for her. the milky way is 𝓵𝓲𝓫𝓮𝓻𝓪𝓽𝓲𝓷𝓰
Radio Ga Ga 5,671
That's actually a really interesting question... I feel like she's probably pretty satisfied about the superbowl reception, but i feel like she felt rushed and didn't have enough time to make Joanne, so she might not be so satisfied with the music she put out (hence release of the cure) I don't think she really aimed to get chart positions this era at all, otherwise she would have released DIC or Ayo instead of PI for first single, and would have promoted the single
Korok 4,272
Gaga is easily satisfied nowadays. It's good for her but sucks for us.
Squeeshy Keety 9,908
I don't think she gives a damn. I think if anything, Joanne was meant to boost her "authenticity cred" with the GP, and this era has proved marvelously for that. They at least recognize her as a talent at this point. I think her acting gig is what is really exciting for her. It was a dream of hers, and acting is still so new and exciting for her. I'm happy she got an opportunity to do this, and I'm sure she loves every day of it They / Them 🏳️🌈
Future Lover 2,588
I think it's everything she wanted it to be. She's happy and that's all the matters to her. If she really wanted to have a hit she would have done more promo. It's clear she's content with how it's going.
River 117,090
I think she is, Joanne was a healing process for her, she was drowning from emotions that came from her private life, her career and the real world situations, she had to put it out somewhere and music was the best way and this is how Joanne came to life.. it's her calming and relaxing era, it's after the explosion of emotions and a person like Gaga needs it.. So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy
Bebe 17,094
Yeah I think she is, I think Joanne was a departure from her old work not just musically but also philosophically. While she still certainly promoted the record, she did it in a different way. Instead of rushing to be on Ellen, X-Factor, iHeartRadio and every magazine cover in publication we saw her shun opportunities like that for radio interviews and dive-bar performances scattered in with some high profile stuff like SNL, the AMA awards or Victoria's Secret. It was quieter and she seemed less concerned with making multiple hit records. She talked about how she felt like people were exploiting her for money pre-Joanne and how she felt like she was being worked to breaking point and beyond. She talked about how she felt like she never had time to properly rehearse her performances. During her interviews over PI she talked about she felt like she missed out on important things with her family, whether missing her mother's birthday or whatever, because of her whirlwind promo schedule. This was really a pretty stripped back era and I think that's what Gaga wanted. I think she wanted to find more balance in her life, work more on her relationships with others and have time to explore other creative outlets that she was interested in pursuing further. She could release an album, promote it, perform, play the superbowl and go on a worldwide tour while still finding time for everything else she felt she was missing out on. Miel 15,009
Honestly? Probably. I mean, I think she cares enough about chart positions and relevancy and all that in a much more general kind of way. I've been getting the vibe from her that, at least at this point in time, her core focus is the music and the performance of the music. And she's excelled that since the release of Joanne . And she's been pretty happy with it, too, it seems. 3 points in and ready for more
PetiteMonstre 69
I feel like she's really enjoying exploring this new artistic landscape honestly. Additionally - I think we still have more of the Joanne era to see.

I've never thought of this cycle in that way. In an almost metaphorical context, I feel like the album was also about that, in a much more retroactive and universal kind of way. 3 points in and ready for more
Delulu Rogers 7,251
I think she's happy with it. If not she would have done more promo and singles
Cerny 4,270
In the long run, I don't think she's ever satisfied. I could be wrong though, but the way she jumps from one project to another without fully exploring the previous one tells me that.
MaryJaneHolland 77,348
She surely is. But tbh I think she still wants a hit Just my thoughts
Joannes Baby 29
Joanne is so special for her because it's about her and her aunt (and her family). The thing is she's too busy now making a movie, but she will return and then promote Joanne again. Also, the tour is about to start. This is the beggining of this era, not the end.
