The Rock ranting on Twitter over Baywatch flopping

I mean, it was the worst possible time to release a movie like this. Movies like these usually do well in times where cinema is slow and people just want to go out and watch a movie, but right now there are three massive franchises competing with one another.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 just grossed $750m in 3 weeks

Pirates of the Carribean just came out and Wonder Woman is coming out very soon too.

Really not a great time to release a B-side movie like this.

When will Hollywood understand that Zac Efron is box office poison?

There's nothing harder for people to do than admit they were fooled.

I actually feel kinda sad for the celebrity when this happens. The delusion makes them build up expectations that just aren't going to come to fruition and then they get upset over it and this happens. I don't know if that Danish person was being sarcastic when they said they were looking forward to seeing it but Dwayne's response of "that's one fan at least" just appealed to my sympathetic nature. It's tough when something you worked hard on and believed in doesn't turn out like you hoped but the key is to keep these feelings off social media as it's not the best look. But saying to someone that they just couldn't handle an R-rated raunchy movie was uncalled for. And what "fans" is he referring to? The movie resembles very little of the actual tv show it was based on. It's a dumb comedy action movie, that's not what Baywatch was about. Its real fans are interested because it's a different premise and doesn't star any of the old cast, so why would they go see it? There's no fanbase being aimed for here, just doofus frat boys who want to see bikini babes/action sequences/sex jokes and 20-something bimbo women who want to drool over Dwayne and Zac. I don't even know if the gay community will be interested in it for the male eye candy because the premise isn't exactly appealing to them.

Honestly, the public's getting bored of such movies. They're not as "fun" as its creators claim they are. You can't have fun with a stupid premise. The likes of Bad Moms just caught on the tail end of this raunchy comedy genre and made a fair amount but the glory days of this genre ended in roughly 2014 and they might not come back for a long time. If people want a movie that isn't based in reality and involves mindless explosions, they can always go watch the latest Fast and Furious film or the latest Transformers film or your average comic book movie. At least they've got a bit more to offer than cheap laughs. I'm honestly surprised that the makers even allowed this film to get reviews pre-release. Such movies usually embargo the reviews until the week of release because they know there will be a backlash and any pre-judgement might stop people from going to see it. It's getting to the point now where I'm actually annoyed at any of these movies that have the audacity to allow themselves to be pre-judged and are genuinely shocked at negativity.

I'm actually glad this flopped I don't want them to have a reason to make more films starring beefed up ****boys and misogyny :madge:

I was thinking the same thing. If movies like this flop, they'll maybe stop being made, for a short while at least. They continue to push these negative messages and then have the audacity to say that people who don't like it are just killjoys. And then wonder when their movies don't sell to the public that they repeatedly insult the intelligence and opinion of. Maybe if they listened to their audience more, they might make a movie they like.

people are tired of theses cheesy a$$ movies

get over it dwayne :nails:

I wanted to see the movie. It looked kinda funny but your comment kinda hit why I didn't go. The market is over saturated with this kind of movies and they were last to the table. If it were done maybe three years ago it might have been a hit.

They won't. He is white and beautiful therefore it couldn't be his fault.

Oh, Dwayne. :emma:

:tony: I halt to speak because I've not gone to see it yet, but I probably won't make a special date just to see a movie that Iv'e felt I've seen a thousand times before since the year 2011.

:cryga: I fear for what the Jumanji remake is going to bring forth.

It'll only (maybe) due well because Robin was attached to the original and he had passed a few years ago to suicide. :duck: People are tired of the same combinations in the movie industry.

Every year; a sappy teenage love story, a cheesy movie with Kevin Hart, Seth Rogen or The Rock, an animated kids movie that appeals to much more than just children, the horror movies to bloom out in the winter that have the same classic jump-scare tactics and a good comic book adaptation or two.

 People are getting bored.

You forgot to add a sci-fi movie too :air:

Doesn't he have a bunch of other poor movie choices coming up too? Jungle Cruise and Jumanjj?

Own up to your work man.... It's his fault that he thought being in a Baywatch movie was a good idea.

Nobody saying that, people were saying that remake that have way too drastic changes that it loses the core won't likely well received.

Why is he so butt hurt about it? This isn't the type of movie you pour your heart and soul into. It was obviously going to be panned by critics and sell really badly. Just looks like absolute trash. And he can expect the same from his Jumanji remake.

I love judas SO MUCH but I canʹt look like a copycat of JLO!!!!
