I think that people are free to Do What U Want.mp3 with their bodies and believe what they want to believe as long as it doesn't harm anyone.

But just because someone disagrees or doesn't understand doesn't mean that you have to be rude to them like I'm seeing in this thread. Acceptance goes both ways.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, whether you agree or disagree with it.

I agree!  live and let live. Give people the change to be who they want to be etc but the issue arises when it's the 'majority' making the rules for the 'minority'. When the opinions of one group control the others. I wish it was as simple as two different opinions but non binary people go against the foundations of society, religion, socially constructed gender roles etc etc even as a gay man I face socially constructed barriers everyday and it can be difficult at times, but being gay isn't new and our recognition has moved forward a lot in the last 20 years. The concept on non binary is fairly recent (in terms of open discussion and recognition) and is still controlled by the masses 🙂

While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I don't personally believe that we should tolerate all opinions equally... Especially not opinions and beliefs that disregard or dismiss people's identity and existence on the basis of ignorance or lack of understanding/empathy

Not saying we should burn these people at the stake for having "popular" beliefs, juts that we shouldn't just let it slide. We should acknowledge it, then work to inform and enlighten, as many have done in this thread. What they do from then is up to them.

What gender? Is this really that ****ing important? Some special snowflakes made up a 3rd ''gender'' (btw its a social construct lmao the irony) and now they demand it to be legal... WHAT WORLD DO WE LIVE IN JESUS.

Who the f*ck is voting "No" on this thing? Not very open-minded or accepting of you guys...

The way I see it, there are 3 (or 4, depending how you count it) genders: male, female, nonbinary/genderfluid. I think that this is great, and it really opens up the door for more discussion about gender and the LGBTQ+ community.

All those who oppose this and say "there are only 2 genders" and "if you have a penis you're a guy, and a vagina if you're a girl" need to just stop. Gender =/= sex and for people who are suppose to be on this forum who are supposedly liberal, with open-minded ideals, it isn't very open-minded of you to think like that.

If it's a social construct, then why are you so pressed about it? :oprah:

I see 3 (or 4, depending on how you count it) genders: male, female, nonbinary/genderfluid. For someone who supposedly supports Gaga and the LGBTQ+ community, that's not being very open-minded.

I say yes, because I prefer to just be considered a person, rather than a female. I feel like being considered a female leads to all the BS that people say like 'why don't you get a man' and 'when are you gonna have kids', as if that's my only effing purpose for living. I'm here to think for myself, to learn, to help others and to be a listener. I'm attracted to who someone is, not what someone is. If people feel like they need a legal status for these types of feelings, then I support them. However I don't harbor much hope that the majority of people will be willing to accept it anytime soon either. People in general are still too worried about what other people think about them.

Oh I agree, sorry if it came across in a way that seemed like people should not accept people if it doesn't fit within their opinion. You made a very valid point

I think this is less about people recognizing gender queer people and more about people arguing their definition of "gender" :emma:

Is it defined by genitals? If so, there's three genders.
Is it defined by chromosomes? If so, again, there's three.
Is it defined by you as a person? If so, there could possibly be limitless ways (genders) to express how one person feels or identifies themself in relation to the gender binary.

It's too complicated for me to be firmly on either side. It's just where do you stop?

I agree gender is a social construct but that means as above ^  there's limitless ways to express your gender. How do you categorise that? Male/Female on ID, Records and certificates are just easier for administration tbh

Boxes, problematic but also useful to an extent.

Either way, my opinion is irrelevant, whether they put 2 or 20 genders it doesn't affect my life so I'd never prevent it. I'll call you whatever you like :lolly:

Dumb. You're either born with a disco stick or a muffin.
