Miss me with that shoehorn definition of what "talent" is. Talent is a cumulation of ability, regardless whether those abilities are learned or innate by birth. If you say "Why is everyone so obsessed with talent?", you're implying that talent & ability should not be the top priority when you are pick & assigning people to do tasks and to later judge on whether they are did a good job or not. That's an irresponsible and unfair mindset, because, yes, there are lots of talented people out there who aren't successful, but they're only not successful because people without great abilities occupy the positions unrightfully. Thankfully, I believe in the gospel our spiritual leader has preached us. May you repent and better yourself sis.

Not vocally, that's for sure. But when it comes to songwriting, in Katy's own words, she has "a seed of it." In fact, more than a seed. I've never been the big fan of her ballads like a lot of people are but there are some good ones here and there. Some of the tracks that she's made with just a few other people or completely on her own aren't half bad. One of the Boys, Waking Up In Vegas, Hot n Cold, If You Can Afford Me, Circle The Drain, The One That Got Away, Pearl, Not Like The Movies and By The Grace Of God were really good and all those songs were written with just 2 additional writers at most. Here's some other good ones that only had 3 additional writers: I Kissed A Girl, Last Friday Night, E.T., Hummingbird Heartbeat, Part of Me, Dressin' Up. And she can play guitar as well.

It's just that she's not using the talents that she does have accordingly. Pop rock definitely suited her the most, she seems most at home with it. Whenever she's left almost completely to her own devices, it's nearly always a ballad she makes, which tells you a lot about the music she really wants to make and who is really responsible for her biggest hits. I feel the pop rock stuff suits her voice better as well. Her voice wasn't designed for big pop bangers sung at top volume. It's quite a quirky voice, best reserved for fun pop rock that's a bit shouty. If she stopped pushing her voice on her ballads, she wouldn't be that bad either. She just needs to stop trying to be a diva vocalist when she's clearly not capable of it. Teenage Dream, as good a pop album as that was, wasn't truly "her" and neither was Prism. This bubblegum pop music is a bit too saccharine for the real Katy Hudson. We don't know the full extent of Witness just yet but from what we've heard so far, she's still pushing this pop style and trying to be current. After this, I hope she takes a good long look at all the work she's done, measure it up and come out with something that goes back to her pop rock roots.

Sorry but your definition of talent is wrong, I don't know where you even get that from?

So anyway as I was saying, the vast majority of artists and singers are talented because musical talent is NOT that rare at all and people often argue like "oh but Gaga has talent" "and Katy has talent too" and like what is the point? I'm not going to love BA just because Katy is talented no tea no shade I respect the girl.

I mean in order to become a successful artists you need sooo much more than "talent" and if you say that Gaga got where she is just because she's talented you're dismissing the effort she puts in her art and her other abilities like songwriting or great personality and stage presence. She's also got very lucky, let's be honest but that doesn't mean she doesn't deserve her success.

I think the big thing that Katy is known for more than anything is her sex appeal. She really doesn't have that much talent or stage presence so her "sexual image" makes up for it. In the beginning, I don't think she had a sex appeal, but than the Teenage Dream era came, and she was considered such "hot stuff". I mean really though. When people thought of her they thought of her on that pink cloud in the California Gurls music video.

Poprock Katy would've ruled the world and I'd stan her like I stan Gaga, so many of the songs on One Of The Boys are gems and let's not forget Circle The Drain

Ariana has the voice of an angel descending from the sky. But other than that...  

EDIT: okay maybe she does belong on the list because she's also an actress and a pretty good one

I don't know why Rihanna is even famous.. I guess she's pretty and has an ok voice...

Katy is a decent entertainer and has a good voice but that's it

Gaga definitely needs to be at 1 in that list. She comes close to Beyonce and Beyonce is a way better dancer than gaga. But she definitely isn't as passionate about music than gaga so that's why gaga deserves to be above Beyonce.
