nick4bty 2,758 Posted May 28, 2017 Share Posted May 28, 2017 As good a pop album as TD was, it doesn't fit her at all, and OOTB is the kind of music she should have stayed making. Not only is it good pop rock, it's the image that best fits her and the type of music that's truest to the artist she is and always wanted to be - a singer-songwriter pop-rock Alanis Morissette-type. The fact that she allowed Bonnie McKee and Dr. Luke to make an entire album for her suited for mainstream radio appeal was obvious the best move in order to achieve worldwide success and become a huge pop star, but now that she's got neither it's pretty obvious she's just a pearl, a shell of (former) self. At this point she needs to stop chasing after her TD success and just make another pop-rock singer-songwriter type album because at least then she'd be able to write it and sing it and play guitar and perform the music she's actually good at. I'm not saying professional singers shouldn't be talented, I'm saying there are millions of talented singers, and therefore talent isn't the thing that will make you successful. Also talent is not "being actually good", that's hard work. Talent is a natural gift, in order to "be actually good" you have to practice and work. Don't come for me if you can't read.
