Luxe Ford 3,481 Posted June 7, 2018 Share Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) Yello - The Race (1988) I bought this on sale for next to nothing ages ago and listened to it twice, rejected it as dated and boring and rediscovered it on YouTube a while ago. And now it suddenly feels timeless and even though it's over 13 minutes long there are allways new things happening that keeps it going. Seemingly built on a myriad samples, every noise you hear in it is original sounds from these old guys' vast library. It's clearly not put together on a coffee break and technologically it still sounds cutting edge. In headphones - the only way to listen to it - The stereo effects gives the effect of a car racing through your. And now rhe racing track it has created in my mind smells of burnt rubber. He's the guy behind the phrase 'turn on, tune in and drop out' and the motto 'think for yourself and question authority'. Parts of his ashes were buried in space. The Grid are the straight guy from Soft Cell and...some other chap. Nena von Scleebrügge, Swedish-German 60s top model. POPTARTZ is s 4 CD 1995 compilation by 4 DJs that all had have hits in the charts. And they were all tarts I guess... Mark Moore had a few UK top tens with S'Express in the late 80s.
