iCpro 14,846
I'm honestly so disgusted and appalled at how someone could do this. The concert was supposed to be a night to see their idol and celebrate music and love. It breaks my heart thinking of those people, many of them still children, going to the concert expecting to create unforgettable memories with their friends, families, and fellow Ariana fans. They didn't deserve this. I don't believe in hell, but I hope it does exist so that the people responsible for this will burn there for eternity. 08, 09, 11, 13, 16,

It's even less fair to try and hold others of the Muslim faith accountable for these attacks. That's painting 1 billion+ people with a broad and flawed brush. Any idea can be twisted and weaponized and people can be radicalized and misguided into doing something like this. Trying to make Islam out to be the cause will only aggravate the issue further and cause more loss. You've got to be the bigger person and realize that the extremists want you to attack Islam and they want you to alienate Muslims. That makes their job much easier. At any rate, you're free to criticize religion, as with any other idea or philosophy, but the second it starts getting heated and it's turned into an attack on religious people, we'll step in We have Muslim members here and they're entitled to the same respect as anyone else and we'll defend that even if it means hiding a few posts that we feel could cause an issue. Now isn't the time for division and this isn't really the place to have this discussion anyway. I'm not holding 1 billion people accountable for terrorism when I say there's a problem within the religion, that simply isn't fair. But they are the ones who are going to have to reform their religion at the end of the day. Also, being Muslim is not a faith - it's an ethnicity. There's an argument that being critical of Islam will only radicalize Islam further, but personally I feel the acknowledgement is absolutely necessary. What does that say about a faith if you can't criticize its teachings without fear that someone will go on a mass homicide? Being critical of a faith is OK. It is an ideology, not an identity, skin color, ethnicity, or nationality. We need to realize that. I'm also tired of liberal politics tearing down Christianity, but protecting Islam. If someone refuses to bake a cake for a gay person, liberals will absolutely tear down Christianity. Then they will go to protect a faith which has caused almost every country of its practice to criminalize being gay, half of the time by death. I have taken many religion courses over my time and it's apparent to me that Islam is very sneaky at achieving its followers to exhibit extremely high religiosity, and it's almost impossible to leave the faith. That is consistent amongst everywhere and is not OK. I am not trying to divide anyone. I'm critical of Islam because I want unity. At the end of the day until Islam's issues are acknowledged and the faith receives a reformation, there will be suicide bombings to come and lack of unity in the entire world. Also, I don't appreciate you giving me a WP because of ideological differences. I have never discriminated against a muslim person ever, I know a lot of muslim people and some are the greatest people I know. I will never express anything but love and kindness to them. My intentions are well.

Now isn't the time for division and this isn't really the place to have this discussion anyway. 1) I did not paint Muslims with a broad brush nor did I try to make them all accountable. But it is absolutely fair to associate Islamic terrorism with aspects of Islam. Where else does it come from? 2) There are ASPECTS of the Islamic doctrine that warrant discussion in an adult yet forthright manner. Clearly parts of certain sects of Islam freely justify this behavior. If I can find it online then so can you. Support for suicide bombings against civilians (as happened at this concert today): (55 vs 45) 45% of Muslims in Egypt believed it could never be justified, 25% believed it could be justified rarely, 20% sometimes, and 8% thought it could be justified often. (39 vs 61) 61% of Muslims in Turkey believed it could never be justified, 9% believed it could be justified rarely, 14% sometimes, and 3% thought it could be justified often. (57 vs 43) 43% of Muslims in Jordan believed it could never be justified, 28% believed it could be justified rarely, 24% sometimes, and 5% thought it could be justified often. (72 vs 28) 28% of Muslims in Nigeria believed it could never be justified, 23% believed it could be justified rarely, 38% sometimes, and 8% thought it could be justified often. (31 vs 69) 69% of Muslims in Pakistan believed it could never be justified, 8% believed it could be justified rarely, 7% sometimes, and 7% thought it could be justified often. (29 vs 71) 71% of Muslims in Indonesia believed it could never be justified, 18% believed it could be justified rarely, 8% sometimes, and 2% thought it could be justified often. So of over a billion people, this represents millions, and that's just a fact. Additionally, surveys of British Muslims have yielded some alarming findings. ICM found that 52% of British Muslims think being gay should be illegal. 23% want Sharia law in Britain. To self-censor and not criticize is, likewise, what they want you to do. 3) I was not "heated" in any way. We adopted seat-belts in cars because they save lives. How many lives must be wasted before people do not automatically equate rational discussion with Islamophobia? It sounds like you fear open debate of facts. If this isn't the place for rational, open, free, speech then feel free to delete my account.
