And no, whether or not they "really have talent" doesn't matter; only the perception does. Honesty there are a lot of valid criticisms to be made of Katy, but most of the comments on here are mean-spirited vitriol and revenge because another female artist challenged Gaga and "won" some imaginary media race. Meanwhile, the GP neither knows nor cares that there was a "battle" between Gaga and Katy and both have either ceded their place at the vanguard of pop music (Gaga) or are beginning their slide into irrelevancy (Katy). Notice how nobody ever does this for male artists. At the end of the day so many pop fans treat female artists as props to fuel their own egos. It's as shallow as the console wars for video game fans, only worse because we're cheering on the demise of a real human being, not an inanimate object. No, black people dont "own" any type of music or art style. The same as white people dont "own" any of that either. Replace black communities with "white communities" and see if that still holds up. And yes, you can be racist towards white people. Idk what's the fascination with putting white/lighter skin people on a pedestal. Just because the majority in a lot of Western countries are white doesn't mean people can freely discriminate on who they want.
