This, Gaga needs to bring attention to the album again, it has still a lot to give.

Has that ever happened before...where an album is interrupted by a non album single and then subsequent singles are from the original album?

By other pop acts I am sure it has. For example look how many times Rihanna has done it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rihanna_discography

Beyonce as well: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beyoncé_discography

Also Gaga herself technically interrupted BTW Era with a Jazz single in 2011 but she then continued with a 5th single.

@OBEY

Thank you for your explanation.

However, correct me if I'm wrong once again (just trying to understand):

The way that email message is worded, it leads me to believe that the CDs are shipped  in accordance with the number of tickets sold.  You buy a ticket to the concert, you get a CD placed on top of your seat. Whether you redeem it or not, it's your problem, the CD is sold to you. You can show up and pick it up/have it shipped to you, or let it rot in the warehouse - that thing it sold. Once the monies are received for it, it's all yours. Just like taxes/facility fees are attached to every ticket, the same is with this bundle. Capitol receives a cut from every ticket sold, not from every option redeemed. That's why they keep on adding more dates to capitalize while there's still some tour awareness. This thing will go cold very soon. AEG then will deal with sold/unsold dates later.

But, of course, Billboard in not in the business of selling tickets/CDs. I hope, you're right - only the redeemed offers will count. But then, will RIAA count everything for certification?

:hug:

You really need to "redeem" your CD if u want it and then it counts towards an album sale. RIAA/Billboard will count the redeemed CDs as if they were bought.

like for a date maybe she sold 10k tickets but only 2k looked at the email filled their formula, so it adds 4k extra sales

I feel like Madonna or someone did this before too.

Maroon 5 kinda did this too, released This Summer's Gonna Hurt then released Feelings as the final single. But they also added TSGH to the album and made it a deluxe version on iTunes (which Gaga should have done, would've really added a lot of SPS and TEA to the album

It would be a smart move when it comes to sales but as an artistic move I feel that TC doesn't belong with Joanne that much tbh. TC is very 2015-2017 sound while the most 2015 sound on Joanne (except from the ballads of course) is A-Yo which isn't exactly a sure commercial hit like Uptown Funk (from which it was inspired)... All the single-worthy songs on Joanne can easily either be successful singles or complete flops anyway because they are not trendy songs of 2017.

Anyway if a video isn't released for TC till next week then they should leave the song on it's fate completely and move with a final single, a ballad between Joanne and Angel Down since it's much easier to promote and make a video for + after TC which was a more commercial song it will create more buzz.

Halsey’s new album is the first by a woman to be No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2017. The last leading lady to top the chart was Lady Gaga, whose Joanne album debuted on the list dated Nov. 12, 2016 — more than seven months ago. In the last 12 months, Halsey is only the fourth solo woman to top the Billboard 200, following Lady Gaga, Solange (A Seat at the Table) and Barbra Streisand (Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway). Comparatively, in the last 12 months, 16 men have earned No. 1s (including a pair each for Drake and Future), 10 groups (and only one with a female member: Pentatonix), two soundtracks (Fifty Shades Darker and Suicide Squad) and one compilation (The Hamilton Mixtape).

Isn't this what Madonna did with MDNA back in 2012 as well though? :huh:
