It's fine tbh. She'll need to promote the tour though with her album rollout promotion, like Gaga did with the Superbowl.

She definitely has not been as successful with her latest singles in the US, so it makes sense they're at least trying to solidify a #1 album for her. If it works, then it's a clever strategy, but if it doesn't make the album #1, it will look incredibly embarrassing.

But the thing is Harry Styles in new as a solo artist, unlike Katy whos on her fourth album. This proves that Katy and or her label only care about the charts, and if she does flop she should take it in pride and she should not let it get in her way.

It's more interesting that she released tour dates which are up to 1 year in advance.

For me that's the proof that the tour tickets won't sell well (followed by that the album is also a flop).

That's understandable considering the fact that he is a new solo artist and the music needs to delve into interactions with the crowd etc. but at the end of the day it's still the same tactic.

Her recent singles aren't doing great whatsoever and the album needs an extra push and if this scheme has been successful to other artists such as Madonna and The Chainsmokers, so why can't she do the same? Being afraid to flop shouldn't be seen as taboo by the way.

I like the idea. Who cares what the general public thinks? It's a marketing move, yes, but I dare say it's not as suspect as Rihanna's deal with Samsung. A majority of the people who are going to fork over the money to see her on tour will likely purchase or heavily stream the album anyways. I think it's a nice gesture to the fans.
