MiddleZone 292
There is something very strange and different about this album. For some reason it feels to me not very colourful, many of the songs are quite similar, the single choices don't actually seem that strong compared to TF/M and yet nothing else would really have worked as a single. Yet the album is still amazing? I do love BTW. I just can't get my head around it. Does this make sense? SUMMARY: I love BTW but i don't know why
AURA 2,890
BTW, MTN, TEOG, Hair, Scheisse and GH. There you go. The album is Gaga's best efforts. She'll probably never get to do something as big as BTW again.
Oscar 1,031
I remember when the album came out a lot of people I knew loved marry the night but for whatever reason I feel like even if it was released sooner, it would have flopped to some extent. If Marry The Night got released instead of Judas then I can see it doing good.
drbumblenut 48
I agree. Born This Way feels stark, but with points of such intense brightness that it balances out the chill. It was like Gaga's fully-realized, futuristic world where an open and loving Church joined us among the stars. Many of the songs have similarities among them, but when you listen to the whole album top to bottom, they're echoing and foreshadowing each other, like a musical. I used to imagine Born This Way having an accompanying movie like Fantasia, with art inspired by H.R. Giger and Hieronymous Bosch. And lots of motorcycles. GOD I wish to this day something like this could happen with Gaga's music. Anyway! Haha. I agree, there's something strange and stark about this album, but even though it isn't colorful, it's seething with life.

I know how people say TFM was her best work but imo it has nothing on BTW. The production, the promo, the visuals and everything about that album slayed
Earthling 3,692
I was doing a listen through of Born This Way on a long bus ride home. It was such a magical experience, the entire album is so beautifully sonically cohesive and it feels so expansive. The production on each track is phenomenal, the instrumentals are ethereal and Gaga's voice is powerful, emotive and inspiring. *she switched baristas. ☕️
giskardsb 12,565
it's overall a very dark album for a pop album with a consistent production quality. The songs are quite varied but still carry a common sonic signature. BTW sounds the most like a cohesive whole than any of her albums, followed by Joanne. WildAmerican 13,672
I've been coming around to it more, and I really think it's her best or 2nd best work. It's always been just as good as TFM to me, and Joanne is also one of my favorites too. It's such a bold step from TF/M and it really developed her as an artist. There are 5 songs I really don't like (Americano, and #9-12) but that's okay because I respect them sonically. Overall, fantastic album, and one of my favorites of all time. djBuffoon 12,115
So far, it is her strongest work, with Joanne as her only other album which will sound exactly the same decades from now. She took her time with it, filled out each musical concept as fully as possible, and fine-tuned the production until it was GAGA.

Legit my only complaint with Joanne is that it's missing that kindof undefinable "thing" that makes it "Gaga". I think John Wayne has it.... a little genre mixing and a slight edge. Although I love the album, Diamond Heart, John Wayne, and Perfect Illusion, even DIC to an extent, point to the album that could have been epic.
