I think that Beyoncé was more succesful overall. In my opinion, she almost reached 'legend' status whereas Britney is more considered just like a pop icon

Britney is a cultural icon. No matter how many flop albums she puts out you can't take that away from her :trollga:

No shade but 4 wasn't a flop. It sold 1.5M copies in the US and went #1 with 311,000 copies in its first week. That's not a flop if you compare it with Glory, Britney Jean and even Femme Fatale.

To be fair, Femme Fatale, also went Platinum, with a first weeks sale 276,000 making it debut at #1. And Femme Fatale, unlike 4, spawned two Top 10 singles. Both Glory and Britney Jean flopped.

The weird thing about Beyonce is that aside from Single Ladies, the only thing iconic about her is the fact that she is Beyonce. :laughga: I doubt many people could name any performances or songs (aside form maybe Crazy in Love?), 'outstanding' tour moments etc that other artists have.

And it's not even because they're weak. Beyonce is obviously very talented, consistently gives great peformances... But there's rarely anything memorable about it.

Beyoncé will be remembered as a legend and Britney as an icon.

Beyonce may not have as many Number 1s now, but she's a cultur movement, where as Britney feels more like a nostalgic throwback.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

For 2011 it was a flop. Comparing it to albums that did worse doesn't make it more of a success. Let's compare BTW to 21 or 25 and we get a flop, don't we?

Right now, overall ,  they have the same status :golfclap:

Britney had a bigger peak

Beyoncé is bigger now and has an insanely constancy for 20 years

In the long term, I'd say Beyoncé because she's getting bigger and bigger each era, I can see her still slaying for the next 10 or 15 years , while Britney's career already relies on her past only.

Love them both though :awkney:

Atm Beyonce, but everyone seems to be forgetting how she flopped into Oblivia with 4 :emma:

um 4 did not flop. it's like saying ARTPOP flop, just bc it didn't sell as well as its predecessor doesn't mean it flops.

the real concern is she's srtuggling SO bad to score a top 10 single. since 10 she has only like what... two?

This is not even a question.

Beyonce is getting more and more to this reputable legendary status. Whenever someone talk about her, they usually know what she is capable of. That she put on good show. That she sing well. She builds herself an empire.

Meanwhile, although Britney is also in that legendary status, her public image have majorly tarnished since 2007, most times I see celebs admiring her, their face shown they said those encouragement stuffs out of pity, not adoration. Besides, her choice to lipsynch are not something that most people appreciate. To most people Brotney is more to nostalgia act, while Beyoncé were taken as force to be reckon with, and for good reasons obviously!!

I mean, you can just compare how MTV treated Beyoncé's Vanguard Award performance which was grand to Britney's Vanguard Award, where Britney were not even on stage and it was only filled with dancers dancing to medley of her major hits.

and single ladies wasn't even a thing here really . Crazy in love is her only big hit here in the UK. Britney has so many iconic hits. Everyone gets mixed up between beyonce and Shakira here they are more comparable

but the public would struggle to name one beyonce song. She isn't relevant with the average person. She just has lots of obsessed/deluded fans who keep buying her albums that yet again the public don't know the name of. She is the rihanna with no hits tbh

finally somebody who shares the same experience as me. almost none of my friends know that many beyonce songs, and even ones that are claiming to be her fan only hyped about her music when something new is released tbh. then the effect wears down and literally nobody listen to it anymore

i feel like she should do another commercial era a la IASF to truly cement her iconic legacy tbh. so that its not just star power in form of HER but also her product/art being celebrated by the public.
