A little off topic here, but I just finished the last episode of Grace and Frankie. It will be a long wait for the 5th season

RIGHT?!?! I’ve been depressed ever since I watched the last episode (not for real but I miss them), I can’t wait for the next season, but they better make 5 seasons more.

I agree on Norway but...

The Netherlands? Really? Like we ever had real country music at Eurovision? Waylon said himself that his song could be from 10, 20, 30 or 1 year ago. Country music doesn’t change. Out of all the songs you picked this one, how even...?

How is a Viking soundtrack from Denmark uninspired?

San Marino is literally a cheap rip-off from Heroes, Romanania is sending a done before pop rock ballad from the 90s, Serbia is sending dying cats from before the Bible even excised, Russia is sending a forever done before ballad with once again dying cats, Malta is sending a Melfest leftover from 2010, Moldova is sending pure trash, Montenegro is sending a Balkan ballad we have every year, Latvia is sending a boring jazz pop song, Poland is sending a EDM track we’ve heard a million times since 2010, honey I...

The Netherlands and Denmark feel to me like songs that already existed but they just changed the lyrics :poot:

Yes there are other basic and non original songs like you said but those 3 are the songs that have the most chances to qualify.

This is her reply

I understand what you are saying, but Salvador comes from an arrogant point of view like "I'm doing real music and the rest no" and it's not correct at all.. it's just like the heavy metal fans saying about pop that it's trash but they never took a second to listen to some masterpieces.

Recent hits are trashing pop music in my opinion, this is true, but this is the hits machine that helps the industry survive and letting serious artists survive.. it's the only way to keep the machine going..

About Netta, unfortunately those who don't like her song or her, simply don't understand her art and her as a person..

Toy's simple lyrics are caused by language barriers of her listeners who are mostly Israelis.. (unlike what people think the majority speaks simple English or don't speak it at all).

Netta is a young woman that was oppressed all her life and got sh-t from others because of her size and even now she suffers from so many bad comments about that.. her music is her liberation, she's happy and the music is happy.. and she's using the instrument called Looper, it's like the guitar that Gaga used in DITD at the Brits.. I find many similarities between her art and Gaga's art for example.. it'svery experimental.. in Israel the song was not liked by many people because it's something new and bizarre..

And at the end the Eurovision and the Euro-pop was always built on simple lyrics and fun.. all the dance songs from Aqua, Vengaboys and so on are from Europeans..

Okay, I read through it and y'all make it sound worse than it is :sharon:

But yes, how he says it is very arrogant, that could have been said in a much more constructive way. Because ultimately I think the quality of songs in the Song contest is much better than this year. I mean look at us, almost everyone has a different favorite. And we all know quality in the contest was sometimes non existent.

Yet, I think the discussion of quality is important. We of course need silly songs etc. (as you said, it keeps the machine going and not everyone likes heavy stuff. I mean, I like silly songs at Eurovision every year too) But it turns into a problem when the market gets over saturated with them. But this is on the other hand a bigger discussion that gets often discussed in this forum, so Idk if we should ruin our mood with it now. Depending on how it goes on Saturday, we might further discuss this (although I hope not).

And well, I still think Netta is missing quality l, which Gaga obviously has. Also, as someone who is a big size, I can't relate to this song either. So, this excuse is not valid imo. I've learned that when you deliver quality you get less negative opinions. And I am sure she knew that these kinds of comments would come, when she decided to take part with such a song :laughga:

This is also kind of directed at @hausofcy because their reply is on another page and I can't quote it properly.

I just hope we're not at war right now, so we can still enjoy the party, even tho we discuss more serious aspects of it

Even a 11 year old can write better lyrics than those of Norway. :poot:

That is my problem with Norway. I think it is also kind of uncool to go to a contest where writing songs is (supposed) to have a big platform and then come and sing about lackluster ways to write a song... :poot:

He will qualify anyways, because the song is trendy and catchy. And get lots of points because of the name attached.

After my prediction of Semi-Final 1, where I predicted 7 out of 10 songs right but already suspected that Azerbaijan and Armenia wouldn’t make it and Ireland and Lithuania could surprise me, it’s time to try it again. I think this Semi-Final has 3 borderline qualifiers that are really hard  to predict. Anyhow. Here is my prediction of Semi-Final 2:

1. 🇸🇪Sweden (100%)
2. 🇳🇴Norway (95%)
3. 🇲🇩Moldova (85%)
4. 🇺🇦Ukraine (80%)
5. 🇦🇺Australia (75%)
6. 🇳🇱The Netherlands (70%)
7. 🇩🇰Denmark (65%)
8. 🇭🇺Hungary (60%)
9. 🇲🇪Montenegro (60%)
10. 🇵🇱Poland (60%)

11. 🇷🇴Romania (50%)
12. 🇸🇮Slovenia (50%)
13. 🇱🇻Latvia (50%)
14. 🇷🇺Russia (45%)
15. 🇲🇹Malta (45%)
16. 🇷🇸 Serbia (40%)
17. 🇬🇪Georgia (35%)
18. 🇸🇲San Marino (10%)

I think Austria will do so much better than most people think. I’ve been saying it from the start, but this might end in the top 5.

Moldova has passed both Czech Republic and Estonia in the odds. Let's hope that changes tonight :madge:
