Most Thought-Provoking Thing Gaga Has Done?

TherIn my opinion, one of the most thought-provoking art pieces by Gaga is definitely all 3 of the Venus single artworks, especially the bat one because any cover can be interpreted in a plethora of ways. First of all, the picture in the middle is an homage to Marina Abromović's “Portrait with a Scorpion" photograph, however it can also be a reference to the time a Russian scientist claimed to have seen a  scorpion on Venus:

Or quite possibly it can also be an astrology reference since her Venus is a “Scorpio", which means that apparently people born under those signs are very sexual which is what the song is basically about.

The bat cover is a little abstract too.

Venus is about rebirth, and the animal sign of a bat is just that which ties in with Aphrodite since she symbolizes rebirth too. The bat sign also represents intuition, and the bat is also associated with spiritual growth.

There are also several artistic references in most of her videos, especially “Applause". What do you guys think?

I loved the BTW music video and its era like all the February/March 2011 era.

The Surrealist

Do a music video about a falling superstar rising to fame again. And then do it in real life.

Other than that exposing "fame" as a sociological process. That's why she is friends with so many victims of fame i.e. Kanye West, Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears (and she is a big fan of Amy Winehouse).

Lol my bio mom was staying with me last month and I showed her the BTW video and I was explaining the backstory behind it and she just looked at me like "huh?!?". It's like never mind just watch the video lol

I would have a hard time choosing between the Alejandro, Born This Way, and Marry the Night videos. If forced to pick, I'd probably say Alejandro. Shades of Kenneth Anger and Bergman (by way of Gaga camp, of course). Ambiguous, but with enough to suggest several satisfying interpretations about religion and government as tools for oppression.

But I'm also with CrazyMonster in the sense that, as a whole "era" or "mini-era" really, BTW was kind of her at her peak: the video, the Grammy red carpet, the prosthetics. Good times.

I love all the symbols she used in it. I was 13 back then and I was like "omg she's in the illuminati that's so badass" only because of the purple triangle then I grew up and learned about the true meaning (homosexuals had that purple triangle on them in concentration camps during WW2). The video is just a masterpiece.

I thought she was such a badass and she actually (I hate that saying) had balls to make herself look "ugly" while she was at her momentum. Gaga is just so fearless and she takes real risks. I'll always applaud her for that.

Gaga is definitely a Ingmar Bergman fan considering his influence in her videos especially Applause (The Seventh Seal).

People think it's just the Jews that were targeted during the holocaust but it was everyone that was deemed "impure". Families were torn apart because people were afraid of what they didn't understand.

Saint Hollywood

I would say the pre-show piece from the artRAVE.  Although it is VERY long, it provokes some thinking, especially regarding her sexual experiences.
