While I do agree with you that The Cure is trendy and predictable, I still think that the song is better than a song like Work or Closer. I mean those songs are the definition of dull. How could a song that repeats work work work with minimal instrumentals, and a song with bad vocals and cheesy lyrics not be dull. Those songs really are dull. Gaga's vocals are beautiful and the lyrics are not the most intricate, but they are very uplifting.

I don't think that Work or Closer are good songs but I do find them better than The Cure. Work is a repetitive song for sure, but it's definitely imo a lot more unique and interesting and fun than the cure.

Closer is the same type of song as the cure ,it simply has better songwriting and better production. The vocals suck though

You don't seem to have the best morals.

I don't find Work interesting at all. I mean it has a beat that I could produce very simply and quickly. And I think closer is only catchier than The Cure but that's it.

I find Work really interesting. I absolutely hated the song at first but the unusual production-rhythm actually adds a lot of value to the song,I also think that the chorus even though it's extremely repetitive is not really tiring because of how loose the song is.The song is more about giving a great vibe than having great songwriting and it achieves its goal imo.

I also really like the verses of the song and the part that Drake sings

I don't have morals because I think Gaga's latest efforts are average? And because I pointed out that people was blaming a whole company because a couple of cops dragged a guy and a CEO failed to apologize properly?

Whatever, I guess.

Lady Gaga already peaked, though (This is my opinion, and I can't be the only one who feels this way, don't rage) I still feel her latest efforts are from ok to average, she went from catchy music with edge, to uninteresting and insipid indie act wannabe music, with a touch of pop in the form of bland hooks and still that boring, verse, pre-chorus, chorus, verse, pre-chorus, chorus, bridge, chorus structure. It doesn't bode well at all, like if you're going to dive into other genres at least make some effort, go all in and change things up.

Lady Gaga is influenced by all this incredible artists and she has a very interesting mind but it doesn't really show in her music.

I think she either needs to fully depart from pop music and make something very interesting, (but this time without relaying on classics and an established Jazz legends) I think that would give her glowing reviews and her first 80+ metacritic score, basically the critics approval she's been desperately seeking for a while now, or go back to the her glossy, high-production pop with that Gaga touch (something The Cure lacks, I mean it doesn't even sound like her) I've seen a lot of people craving for that (not me though).

One thing I find interesting though, is that Gaga hasn't had a real hit since she dropped RedOne, which is kinda f*cked up.

It took her three years to get another top 10 single, only because of the Super Bowl's help, without it, Million Reasons would have quickly been forgotten and disposed of. Oh yeah, but she's getting gigs? I mean she's a musician, we're applauding her for that? She's an incredibly well connected woman but the general public isn't here for her music anymore. Acting? In what? Underperforming TV shows and films not one asked for and pretty much no one knows about?

But she's touring artists and her shows are selling out, well yeah, that is an indication of a fanbase. Literally, any artist can sell out a venue if they have a fanbase, that doesn't mean they're relevant within pop culture, or music in general.

In short: her latest efforts have been average compared to say, Born This Way, The Fame Monster and The Fame. With these three at least she injected some life to pop music, with ARTPOP and Joanne what did she accomplish, exactly?

With ARTPOP and its EDM sound, she was late to the party, with Joanne she tried to ditch some pop elements but the worst elements are still present, The Cure? ARTPOP 2.0 late to the party with an old tired sound that gets lost on the radio because pretty much all the songs have that sound.

I do agree with you in that Gaga is not in her peak anymore but many of your points about the music is very subjective. Songs in ARTPOP and Joanne have just as good melodies, songwriting, and instrumentals as anything on her first three albums. Some songs are even more intricate on these two albums than anything she has done in her first three.

Dirtyicecreamz

if TC isn't a hit it's because her team + her didn't promote it right... no live performances/MV (yet)/ radio interview/interview/TV slot etc. Once again, most people do not even know Gaga has new a song out

Stop the music, Start the drama.

Work has a vibe but that is it. The Cure is not the most interesting song but is very please to listen to and just is a very feel good song.

Well yeah, that's why i stated at the very beginning of my post that that was my opinion, because I know it's subjective.

I think with her first three albums she managed to strike a great balance, the music was (still is) catchy and very pop sonically but still very distinctive, there's no song like Poker Face, Bad Romance and Heavy Metal Lover for example, those are really great, unique songs.

And yeah there are some songs with similar qualities on ARTPOP (the title track) and Joanne (Angel Down) but overall, I don't find those albums as interesting, if I want to listen to an influenced country or folk song, there are better ones out there. I mean, I listen to a lot of great country/folk/americana music that her take on the genres seems bland to me, with her glossy pop music that wasn't the case.

I get what you are saying but I still think she still has very interesting songs (Aura, Venus, MJH, Dancing In Circles, John Wayne, Come To Mama, ETC.). Although I still feel like she hasn't shown her full potential.

Proof that rehashing an old sound won't generate a surefire hit.

I agree with that and I'll always look forward to her future projects.
