World Oil Comsumption is estimated to reach 100 million barrels a day next year (99.96 to be precise) while production is set to rise to 100.4M barrels a day if OPEC expires their production cut agreements

Oil consumption has started to fall in developed Nations due to more fuel efficient cars and the rise of hybrids and electrics.

Consumption in Countries like China, India, Phillipines and more will however keep rising enough for forseable future for over-all global consumption to keep rising

Before yall hate on oil as usual, think of whether or not you yourself can afford an electric car and would use one now. Even if a few of you can answer yes, most people cannot.

or whether ud giveup countless products that require oil in its making (they dont cause nearly as much pollution as the burning of oil for transportation btw)

Not that simple for everyone

They are expensive because they are not mass manufactured yet. And also, renewable energy usage is not yet of it's  optimum efficiency and needs further development. We are not hating on oil, I mean why would you hate on an organic substance? But the reality is that we are consuming oil faster than it's being regenerated. And if that day comes when there are no more fuel to burn then whether we like it or not, we need to let go. That's why the advent for a greener, clean and renewable energy is of utmost importance. As for the petrochemical products, they will run out too. The more advance our technology becomes, the more resources it needs to fuel its progress. So if earth loses its resources, aside from creating wars to dwindle down the earth's population; the other alternative is to go to *cue Gaga's song: Venus*

*Mars actually, Venus's environment is a bit harsh*

Well hundreds of thousands are produced yearly. There is some mass production plus they get subsities. I think electric cars just need further development in order to become competitive

And I dont think moving to mars for the sake of resources would make any sense as it doesnt appear to have anything other than Iron in vast amounts... plus moving everyone there and rebuilding would take a tone of resources itself

Earth already has the right gravity for our bodies, day lengths and atmosphere pressure for us. It would make more sense to space mine resources and bring them back if resources was the problem

Plus if we damaged our planet and needed to terraform another... would it not be easier to terraform our own and fix it if we had that technology given Earth already has all the right perameters? I never understood the idea of running away to another planet as even a damaged earth would be eaiser to deal woth than changing a planet with a different gravity, year and day cycle, atmospheric pressure etc

And i dont think oil supply is ever gonna be a problem. We are exepcted to hit peak demand before peak Oil production capacity in almost every scenario... that would give us many decades to find alternatives in other uses besides electric cars or other forms of transportation. We may find alternatives for products also
