Joanne covers different genres and topics of course but I noticed that even the standard tracklisting puts these songs in those sections. This is what I mean: Dance Songs: - John Wayne - Dancin' In Circles - Perfect Illusion Country Songs: - A-YO - Million Reasons - Sinner's Prayer - Grigio Girls Social Justice / Statement Songs: - Come To Mama - Putting our differences aside and coming together - Hey Girl - Women empowerment, coming together and lifting each other up - Angel Down - Police brutality Uncategorized AKA I don't know where to put these: - Diamond Heart - I don't know what genre you would consider this song to be in - Joanne - Folk song - Just Another Day - I don't know what genre you would consider this song to be in Work Tapes: - Angel Down (Work Tape) - Million Reasons (Work Tape) what do you guys think? I think it's understood at this point that in relation to Joanne "country" means "country-tinged." Also the work tape for MR's been out for a long time, it's nothing special though. If you've heard it live, you've heard the work tape. OT: DH, JW, PI, and Joanne could be added to an amended "Rock/Country/Folk-influenced" category, with JAD lumped the work tapes as "Raw/Bonus Tracks" since it has that vibe imo Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Come to Mama has a Motown feel to it, reminds me of The Shirelles or another similar 60s girl group sound. I always group those to songs together in my head because of that.
