What's happening? Youtube deletes adds? i don't get this.

WSJ, which has a feud with YouTube after the Pewdiepie incident, decided to 'expose' Youtube for monetising racist and hateful videos. This in turn drove off many advertisers and Youtube has to resort to damage control by restricting monetisation on certain types of content.

This isnt about bart baker guys, its about youtube being stupid little fukks and not supporting anything that basically says anything worse than the word "dumb"

as well as LGBT+ content

even harmless ASMR artists are being affected.

I haven't cared for parodies since like 2010 but video production is expensive :green: probably costing him at least a few thousand dollars per video at the low side of estimating

YouTubers make money through ads playing at the beginning of their videos, advertisers pay youtube to show these ads on the videos and the creators get a cut of the money. Recently advertisers have been taking their ads off of youtube because publications (mostly Wall Street Journal) have been claiming that YouTube shows advertisements on offensive videos - which could cause brands damage if they're associated with them.

In response youtube launched new 'options' advertisers can cross out when putting an ad on youtube. The options are super super vague, and the advertisers can click boxes like 'Family Friendly' to only show their ads on family friendly content (because why would you want your ad to show on a video that's not?)

The problem lies with how youtube is judging videos for family friendliness. YouTube is casting a very large net on what is friendly and what is not, meaning that ads are now starting to not show up on many large youtubers videos if they swear in the video, make sexually suggestive jokes or do anything similar to that, so youtubers who would be making thousands per video before are now struggling to hit $100 per video.

Thats a very short and summarised explanation.

Youtube is a real job. Many youtubers put more work into their content than I put into my 40+ hour per week programming job.

I made a post a couple ones above yours explaining the overall situation. The situation first began through pewdiepie making a light hearted joke about nazis which started the snowball effect of advertisers pulling out of youtube.

How is youtube not a job when singing is? Most professional youtubers have dedicated studios and entire crews that produce their content. Writers, editors, camera crew, etc. YouTube is just the medium for which the content is posted on...

It's just like how a singer like Gaga has a crew so she can produce her content, for which the medium is Spotify, iTunes, etc. Some people dont put much effort into their YT videos, sme people don't put much effort into their music.
