I can't believe Trump managed to drop the unemployment rate from 42% to 4.4% in such little time

Recession incoming. See a pattern here? It would be a miracle if unemployment stayed around 4% for the next four years.

Thanks kool and all but the U6 unemployment rate it's still hella high

That's a much greater economic indicator in my opinion

The U3 rate which you're talking about is such a misleading stat. Doesn't really reveal anything.

Doesn't seem that high

U-6 doesn't really go below 7-8%. It's at 8,6% right now. Maybe protectionism and low migration could artificially deflate unemployment levels in the short term, but I think that the peak is near. Not much room for growth otherwise, seeing as labor force participation rate is still stagnating.

Economy

But not the strongest economy in 10 years!!!!

Labor Force Participation rates are still well below pre-recession levels... Also a higher percentage of jobs today in US are low-paying part times

Looking at the unenployment rate alone to see healthy if US economy can be misleading

Read my comment above i just posted i mentioned that

labor force participation rates are still well below pre-recession levels and a high percentage of jobs created have been low paying part-times

A 4.2% unemployment makes it seem like the economy is super strong when in reality its just decent

Also theres their method of measuring unemployment too. Here in Canada the way we measure it we always get 1% to 1.5% higher under the same conditions

the US doesnt count people registered in ads or employment seeking agencies if their EI has expired or if they have a part-time they cant live off of and are seeking something else. We do

Also we count any job seeker in labor market and unemployment numbers among the really young is always higb. In the US they only start counting at 16.

Their methology of counting unemployment is not a very conservative one and they get a lower number than most nations would under the same conditions

Still the US is doing better than most. Just saying not better to the point the numbers suggest relative to others.
