Cultural appropriation is a joke. We're all human at the end of the day. Miley decided to make a hip-hop album with Bangerz. She is allowed to do so. You don't have to be a certain race to make hip-hop. Certain cultures and races created hip-hop, but they don't own it nor should they control it. A german invented hot dogs -- should only germans eat hot dogs? I'm mexican, should only I and other members of my culture/race be allowed to eat carne asada tacos? For some reason lately, cultures seem to think their art and forms of entertainment are theirs and theirs only. Just leads to more division if you ask me. That's not how humanity should work. If Gaga wants to record a rap song with 3 other rappers, she has every right to. If Lana wants to wear an Indian headdress in a video, she has every right to. If Miley wants to make an urban album, she has every right to!

I could really go into detail about why your examples are incomparable but it'd be pointless because i can see you plan on remaining ignorant. Let's agree to disagree tbh cause I don't have the energy

But, as I said, I love her and I love her music, but she's dumb sometimes. You used hip-hop culture for money, then turn around dissing it when trying to rebrand yourself. Just don't do that, please. It's easy. All of those "ratchet" black woman were probably paid very well, wanted to be there, auditioned and competed to be there, etc. If they are there willingly...how is it any less "disgusting" on their part? So for her to basically generalize a genre is completely wrong lol. why not say she distanced herself from pop too? Because pops all about materialistic things and sex? She grew older, realized the culture was no longer for her, and left. You people hold celebs up to these massive standards forgetting they're real people. Props to her for making a huge creative shift and following what she wanted to do.

ryhanna 3,507
I don't like how fickle Miley seems to be. Jumping onto the hip hop bandwagon because it's "wild" and can help her shed her Disney image, and then abandoning the genre and trash talking it. Seems so disingenuous and makes me not want to listen to her music because I can't tell if she's making stuff she really cares about or if she's just making music that she sees as advantageous to her image. Which is a shame because I actually think she's pretty talented and smart. I just wish she had sincerity as well.

She's profiting from black people! So then so is Gaga with J&D, so is Katy with all her urban remixes, so is LITERALLY ANY ARTIST THAT HAS EVER BEEN INFLUENCED BY ANY OTHER CULTURE THAN THEIR "OWN". This kind of PC-thinking is destroying art, turning it into the flat, modern, "a giant balloon dog is considered million-dollar art now" sensibility that has taken over art galleries and museums. brownie 5
So all of you hating on Miley for "jumping on the urban bandwagon" -- how do feel about an Italian woman suddenly making an Americana-influenced country-tinged album? Oh...because country is "white", it's okay? Gotcha.

Noup. What we're saying is that she should shut the hell up. Don't talk like this about something that you used to sell records. It's nasty and it's stupid.
